Q: i have a 2005 toyota rav4 suv and i still have about 13,000 payments to pay off and i can not make them?
what would i get if i return it to the dealer because i already payed off about 12,000 dollars. what should i do?

A: I would say to try to sell it yourself first on some where like craigslist or autotrader.com If you do not get any bites you could try to sell it to a dealer however you may end up owing more than it is worth.

Q: Are Toyota RAV4 good SUV’s?
I’m in the market for another car. I have driven a Toyota Camry for 10 year and I’m a very loyal Toyota customer. I want a Toyota Venza, but even the new ones are still very expensive.

I found a nice Certified 2008 Toyota RAV4 for a decent price with 34,000 miles on it. Its the Limited Edition model (4-cyl 4-Spd AT Ltd ). I had done research and for the most part it seems like a good choice. I have heard its best to go with the Sport or Limited Edition of the SUV models.

However, my mother being the worrier that she is–is concerned that these cars flip over too easily. I’ve never been a road maniac and go the speed limit so this is no racecar for me.

Any advice, please. Serious answerers only.
Someone also said it could be dangerous with the RAV4 having the spare tire on the back of the vehicle

A: Nope, run don’t walk in the other direction of ANY Toyota product.

Q: Which is the better small SUV Honda CRV or Toyota Rav4 and why?
Looking for comparision from people who have owned or just knowledgeable car folks who can give me input on these two vehiciles.
Thanks for your answers.
I live in the Boston area and we do get alot of snow.

A: first off are you looking at new or used?

the 2009 Rav4’s 4 cyl engine is finally getting an upgrade that makes it have better acceleration than a golf cart. So if your buying a used one only buy the V6.

if you live with snow or mud don’t buy a CRV. if your like 95% of ppl who never leave the pavement the Crv is good enough.

but if you ever need 4 wheel drive the Toyota is king.

again the older Honda’s 4 cyl engine is underpowered. but If your buying an 07-09 it’s got plenty of power.

just a few things about the Rav4, the spare tire mounted on the back is a safety hazard, if you get bumped it shatters the rear glass. The tail gate swings out to one side, that’s awkward and sometimes dangerous. The newer Honda’s have solved both of these problems by storing the tire underneath and making the gate lift up.

if you buy a Rav4 get a 2009 or a V6 version of a used one.
if you live with snow or mud Rav4.

if you stay on the hwy and can afford a 07-09 get the Honda

don’t get me wrong, the rav4 with a V6 engine is gr8 little suv just with the limited trim your looking a lot of money for what you get.

the older honda’s are smaller, the new Honda’s are much bigger and with the larger tires have a better ride. They do have some blind spots when you back up but nothing you cannot get use too. some ppl think they are less attractive but to me the extra room inside makes up for that. with the seats folded flat you’ll be surprised what you can carry.

2007 Honda CR-V
I love the sunroof and heated seats something I never would have thought I’d use living in the South but they are gr8 on a cool morning.
The cd player holds 6 cds. It came with 1 year of free XM radio. we did not get the dvd player or the navigation system.

I had a truck with a V8 before this and the only time I miss that big engine is trying to pass on a two lane road but I probably shouldn’t be doing that anyway. seriously the 4 cyl engine has plenty of power when you put your foot in it something the older ones did not have.

Q: Which is best Toyota suv the RAV4 or Highlander?

A: I had a hard choice but picked the Highlander recently.

The Rav4 is less expensive, and the new V6 RAV4 actually performs (e.g.: 0-60) better than the Highlander, but the following kept me away:

#1: Rav4 interior seemed much “cheaper” (you get what you pay for)
#2: That darn RAV4 rear swinging door that you can’t open if someone is parked behind you, and swings in the way of the curb to prevent you from being able to get stuff in and out. The Highlander has a proper lifting hatch.
#3: The Highlander offers a Hybrid drivetrain which is smoother (CVT transmission), improves fuel economy, and has electric motor torque when you need it.

If you can afford the Highlander Hybrid give it a try before you decide.

Q: Would my Toyota RAV4 compact SUV beat an Audi A4 2.0t in a race?
It’s a 2009 RAV4 V6 with the 3.5l V6 engine. 268 horsepower. Does 0-60 in under 7 sec, a full second faster than the Audi! Haha
Clarification-It’s an automatic transmission A4 with AWD, not frontrak
Look, I already know the Audi is slower, uglier, and more expensive, I’m just concerned if the FAV4 has a chance in the corners…

A: Dumb comparison. Why don’t you compare the A4 3.2 V6 and see who’d win aha!

Q: What is the BEST small SUV? Subaru Forester, Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V or Ford ESCAPE???
I need to get a new car to replace my old wagon (1994 Saturn) soon and looking for a reliable small SUV with good gas milleage.

I’m deciding between 4 Suvs : Subaru Forester with 115,000 mi., leather interior – $4,000, 1997 Toyota RAV 4 with 160,000 mi. – $4,200,1999 HONDA CRV LX 2WD with 126,000 mi and 2002 Ford Escape with 125,000 mi. (this car from a local dealer). I found the lists in craigslist los Angeles. I have 2 dogs, one small and one bigs so I need to consider about the cargo area as well?
Please help me with the pros and cons of these car. Thank you very much.
I forgot to mention “1998″ Subaru Forester.

A: The Subaru is the answer. I sell Subarus for a living but being you are in LA, my answer is unbiased. 95% of all Subies bought in the last 10 years are still on the road today. The average owner keeps their subie for min 7years. The boxer engine with the symmetrical all wheel drive is great in all situations dry, wet, or frozen. The repair costs are no higher than any of the three. But it does surpass the rest in safety. If you want more subie info email me at subiejaxman@yahoo.com. I also own one so I can talk.

Q: What do you think the best SUV ? Nissan morano, Toyota Rav4, or Mazda Mazda CX-7?
I’m in a big dilema which SUV to choose from ..

A: I would recommend the Toyota Rav4. It is the best rated small SUV (Consumer Reports).
Consumer Report write up:

The redesigned RAV4 is our highest-rated small SUV. The V6 version scores at the top, the 4-cylinder is second. It has a flexible, well-designed interior and agile handling. It is much more substantial than its predecessor, with a quieter interior, a more comfortable ride, and better fuel economy in the four-cylinder. Handling is agile and secure with standard stability control. The rear seat is roomy. A third-row seat is optional. The four-cylinder engine is carried over, and it feels responsive. The optional 3.5-liter V6, makes the RAV quick and quiet, with only one mpg worse fuel economy than the Four, but in Limited trim it pushes the price up to $30,000. Curtain air bags are not standard, but optional.

Good Luck!

Q: Do you know of a Hybrid Vehicle that resembles the Toyota RAV4 or other small SUV?

A: The Ford Escape Hybrid and Mazda Tribute Hybrid are about as good as you’ll find.

They start about $30,000 and get about 27-34 mpg.

Q: what samll SUV is best?, Hyundai Tucson, Toyota Rav4, Suzuki Grand Vetara, Honda CRV, Jeep Compass?
All these are small SUV’s with 2.4L engines, ok as 4X4, I do not need big performance, prices are ok wich one are the best?

A: THE RAV4 IS VERY RELIABLE, BUT SO IS THE CRV. THERE EQUAL TO ME.

Q: Newer Toyota Rav4 vs. Ford Escape Hybrid? Which is the better small SUV?
I’m speaking of the newer automatic 2WD 4 cylinder Rav4’s (‘05 and up) and the 4 cylinder 2WD automatic Ford Escape hybrid. Does the Escape hybrid have as good of a reputation as the Rav4? What are the pros and cons of each model? They say the Escape hybrid gets 30 MPG, but doesn’t the 4-banger Rav4 get 27-28? Which small SUV would give me the most bang for the buck in the long run and gas mileage wise?

A: I agree with buttplugg, the Escape Hybrid is great. The Escape Hybrid has an excellent reputation for reliability.

Q: are all Toyota rav4 4WD ? is a mid-size SUV 4wd?
i want to rent a 4wd car since I am going to travel around grand canyon circle area.

I checked hotwire.com they have mid-size SUV like rav4 listed. but how can I make sure that it is 4wd ?

thanks

A: No they are not all 4wd. The base model is front wheel drive.

It’s a compact SUV but one of the larger compact ones. Bigger than a Hyundai Tuscon or Kia Sportage for example and about the size of a Ford Escape. Some have a 3rd row seat buts it’s too cramped for adults.

I would call the rental company if you know it. But remember that you are never ever ever 100% guarunteed exactly what kind of car you are going to get when you rent.

Q: Should I get a Toyota Corolla or RAV4?
I have narrowed down my choice for a new car to Toyota. My wife and I are debating over whether to get a Corolla or an SUV RAV4. In my wife’s family, every one drives an SUV-her dad, brothers, her mom. I have always driven compact, economy cars, as well as everyone in my family. I like paying less at the pump. I don’t worry about anyone stealing my car. If I am in an accident, an economy car is less cost to replace. I have noticed that every winter my town is less and less thorough in plowing and sanding the roads and there have been times when I have skidded a few times and I have been lucky. It might be time to get an SUV.
With the economy the way it is, the SUV might be good to have to tow a trailer like a U Haul it to tow a lawn mower or for taking compost and leaves to the dump for a 2nd job doing landscaping. The SUV would be good for travel from Boston to the mountains in NH and VT.
Do you own a Toyota Corolla (economy sedan)or Toyota RAV4 (SUV)? If not, weigh in anyway.

A: If you drive in an area that gets snow, I recommend the RAV4. They’re great in the snow, and get decent fuel mileage.

If you want to tow anything you need the SUV, the Corolla won’t tow very well, and you would end up towing the car behind your lawn mower after a while, they’re not built for towing.

I don’t own either vehicle. I drive a 2008 Toyota Tundra though.

Both vehicles you mentioned are great due to Toyota’s excellent reliability. Toyota’s will run forever when properly cared for.

Get the RAV4 4WD model, and you’ll be glad you did, especially during winter months, you won’t have to worry about if the roads are plowed, just throw it in 4WD, and go. Remember though, 4WD will not help you stop, it only helps you get moving, and has minimal aid in turning.

Q: I need a small SUV. Am looking at a Toyota 2001 Rav4, 130K miles for $6,300 just for a run around. Opinions?
My brother said Toyotas are good for 200K miles. Is this a known fact? It’s basically for running around town but will need a 3 or 4 hour trip every now and then.

A: Check out Mercury: in previous years they’ve ranked as high as #2 in vehicle reliability, and the Milan was actually ranked highest in initial quality for the first 3 years it went on sale, and was then ousted by the all new Chevy Malibu.

Q: Is toyota rav4 popular in saudi arabia? if not, what is the small suv that is popular there?

A: ……I’ve seen a lot of Hyundai Tucson and Kia Sportage here in the eastern province of saudi arabia……

Q: Which small SUV is the most comfortable for tall people? (Ford Escape, Honda CR-V, Toyota Rav4?)?
I’m a tall guy at around 6′5″ and I’m in the market for a small SUV as cars just aren’t comfortable enough for me. Even bigger cars including family sedans kill my back the way you have to slouch and sit so low and “crawl” down into them. Fellow giants will know what I’m talking about. Anyway, which small SUV has the most leg room?

I say small SUV because gas mileage is a huge concern for me. My options are the Ford Escape, Honda CR-V or Toyota Rav4. I’d really like to know which one is the most comfortable to drive on a daily basis and long trips. No hybrids please.

A: bad news is… is that you are going to have to go out and try them on for size for yourself my tall friend. vehicles are made for the average sized person and the smaller the vehicle… you got it… the less room to move. however… i have a large friend (tall & wide) who loves his ranger pickup believe it or not. he says it fits him comfortably. good luck big guy!
