Q: Is there a way to offer an American spec SUV for sale to European countries?
My mother has a new 2008 Mazda Tribute she needs to sell. She can no longer afford the gas prices. I heard some where that other EU countries were buying our SUV’s since the Euro is almost 2 to 1.

A: it’s not that expensive to go this way.

it’s coming here that is worse.

it’s a few things like turn signals etc.

but the cost to ship it, doesn’t really make it worthwhile.

import fees, red tape & paper work

I need to find a chevy tahoe, suburban or GMC youkon for sale for the body. im trying to spend under 3,000. The years can be 1999- 2001. Need info ASAP. thanks

A: Yeah, Ebay is a good bet, but the local junkyard may be your best option. You may have to part a couple together. I don’t think there is a “good” place to find that. You just have to get lucky.

Q: where can i do free advertising about a vehicle for sale?
I have a suv for sale and dont know where i can advertise it for free besides on craigslist. I need to sell it and don’t want to pay a lot of money to do so.

A: If you want to get top dollar for your vehicle, you will have to spend a bit to advertise it. I recommend AutoTrader and AutoTrader.com.

If you want to avoid paying to advertise, you are going to limit the number of people aware of your vehicle.

You could try posting fliers on community bulletin board (such as are available at some stores, but this is really a matter of luck in finding a buyer!

Q: With gas prices nearing $4. a gal why are big gas hog 4X4 SUV sales going up?
Two recent automotive news reports show large 4X4 SUV sales are up by 18% Is this just a way for people with more money than brains to show off? Are they saying that no matter how bad the gas crunch gets they can always get gas.
Please note; I’m talking about the huge 4X4 monsters that get roughly 8mpg and have no logical function on this earth, other than ego stroking. Hummer owners, take note.

A: More rebates and incentives to get the big trucks.

I have had big trucks (Suburbans and Tahoes) since 1990. I like the fact that I am less vulnerable in crashes; that I can haul stuff from Home Depot; more cargo room; more passenger room.

Besides that, I can afford the gas.

I wouldn’t say I have more money than brains… former MENSA member till I figured out I was paying to belong to a ’society’ that I got no benefit from, so I saved my membership dues.

Q: Anyone know of any used car/truck websites to find used suv’s for sale.?
I am looking for a used suv, from a small used car company. not from a dealership.

A: carsdirect.com you can view what you are looking for..they find the vehicle…the dealer…and the financing if you need it…cool site

Q: If you know about SUV V8 sales, then my question is: should I buy one now?
Or hold out for a better deal in the future, since demand is falling for these vehicles.
I’m considering a BMW X5, Range Rover Sport or Toyota Sequoia.

A: Forget the BMW and the Range Rover. Buy the Toyota now, while people are still in a bit of a panic over fuel prices. If prices settle down, people will start wanting their SUV’s again.
.

Q: Truck/SUV sales are down 37% from last year. What does it mean to you?
The simple answer would be just to say that fuel prices are up and that is why truck sales are down. That is somewhat true. But the big point that most people are missing, I guess, is that sales are down because those people who used to drive trucks for pleasure are not buying them anymore. If they needed them for work, the sales would pretty much stay the same. Sad thing is, guys and gals buy trucks and SUVs mostly not because they need them for construction work, etc, but that they buy them either to look more macho or that they think it’s something COOL, kinda like smoking cigarettes (which hurt your health and your wallet). I see ladies driving these HUGE Suburbans to work and their excuse is that they have children. Last time I checked, one or two kids can be carried comfortably in a safe, stylish and fuel-efficient sedan. If you got a lot of kids, I understand. But to drive the gas guzzlers w/o any responsibility is just BAD. What are your thoughts on this. THANKS.
“Miss Little”: What’s up with opposing me first and then copying some of my ideas into your answer. Most cars today are some of the safest ever built. There is no excuse for you to buy an SUV for its so called safety (more prone to roll-over than sedans) than buying a five star crash safety rated sedan. Even Kia builds some of the safest sedans on the road not to mention the big luxury brands are doing even better. And I did mention that if you use your truck for work, this does not apply to you. Only if you drive one for pleasure and so on. READ the question again. Hopefully you’ll understand it.

A: I hope people who use trucks for work will be able to pick them up cheaply. The rest of us should have been driving smaller cars YEARS ago.
I love my 33.6MPG 10yo New Beetle :)

Q: What are the things that I need to check on a Car/SUV to avoid buying Cars/SUV that are victims of ONDOY FLOOD?
Eventhough most of the Cars/SUV’s for sale were already cleaned-up, overhauled and went under casa excellent works. I am looking for second hand car/SUV and I don’t wanna end up with a car/SUV that is a victim of Ondoy Flood or any previous flood. Please help me on this matter guys, thank you!

A: I would look in the back or the trunk under the floor mat and look for signs of water. (dirt etc) Flood water always leaves silt and bathtub rings. Might take a good look underneath at the springs on the struts, up high where water should never have gotten. Another spot that would be missed by cleaning is inside the taillight assembly. Pop the bulb and look down inside the unit for silt.

Q: Which is better a $2,000 cash sale of an older vehicle or a $2,000 tax deduction for donating it?
I bought a new SUV last week but I did not trade in my older SUV. I listed for sale but now I’m thinking maybe I should donate it. The Blue Book Value is about $2,700 but there about $700 in break repairs needed. So I listed it for $2,000 in Auto Trader. Would it be better to donate it to charity for the deduction?

A: $2,000 cash is better.
