Q: I am looking into getting a new car. Which is better the Honda Pilot or the Nissan Pathfinder?
A: The Nissan Pathfinder has less maintenance cost. The Nissan engine is run by a timing chain. It last a very long time with out any major problems. The Honda has a timing belt that has to be changed at 90,000 to 115,000 miles. At a cost of about $450 to 650. If you need to replace the water pump at the same time. The water pump is run off the timing belt. Also the Honda has an interfering engine. Which means that should the timing belt break for any reason it can and probably will ruin the engine. The Nissan has better fit and finish. I do not own either of these trucks, but I see them in the shop I manage….Good Luck..
Q: Is this a good time to purchase a new car?
I want to buy a New Honda Pilot, are the any good special on honda vehicle right now?
When is the best time to buy a new Vehicle?
A: Usually at the end of the year or near the end of a month. However you can usually get a MUCH better car for cheaper if you go used. Especially on something like the Pilot which hasn’t been redesigned for a few years. Hell you could get a used Acura MDX for the same price as a new Pilot.
Q: how much will a 2009 honda pilot sell for in 2010?
I want to buy a new body style, 2009 Honda Pilot but obviously it would be nice to pay a bit less when the 2010 models come out. Can anyone give me a rough estimate of how much depreciation they will have here in the next few months as the ‘10 models roll out?
A: If you want a used 2009 in 2010 check the prices of what a used 2008 is selling for now.
The percentage of depreciation shouldn’t be that much different next year.
You can also check Edmunds.com “True Cost to Own” matrix. They will tell you exactly how much value a 2009 Pilot will lose after one year.
Generally that figure is around 8% to 11%
Q: What is the difference between the Honda Pilot and the Toyota Highlander (newest ones for 2010)?
My family is looking into buying a new car! We can’t decide between a Pilot or a Highlander! Any help? Oh and IDK what the budget is!
Were mainly just looking for the difference in space! We have 2 parents and 2 daughters who have friends over!
A: Pilot has standard V6 and 3rd row seating. Both are optional on the Highlander.
Q: why does Honda sell Integrity tires on new Pilot’s, when you check Goodyear’s website?
it shows that the Pilot should use Fortera tires. The Integrity tires were made for cars and minivans, not SUV’s.
A: The biggest misconception people have about OE fitment is that Automakers put the cheapest crap they can get their hands on when building a car. Aftermarket customers generaly do decide that way, carmakers don’t. A lot of time, testing and development with the “bidding” tire companies go into the tire decision for any given vehicle.
A recommendation in the real sense is just that “a recommendation”. The Fortera is one of the few models “designed for SUVs and other crossovers”. Recommendations are rarely based on price. Unfortunately, tire buyers are price driven not benefit driven. Many “car tires” work fine for these vehicles. That is not to say there aren’t better recommendations. I suggest you buy the best you can afford; afterall, your safety depends on it.
Q: Do you like the Honda Pilot? What did you pay for it?
What did you pay for the new 2007 or 2008 Honda Pilot? What features does it have?
Do you love it or hate it?
A: Wait another year; 2009 Honda Pilot seems to be interesting.

Q: Lease almost up on Honda Pilot?
We have a Honda Pilot lease that will be ending in February. We’ve still very happy with it, so are considering buying it, but want to see what else is offered out there. Since we wouldn’t have a trade-in for a new Pilot lease, the payments would be much higher than we’d be willing to pay. Obviously SUV sales are down with the economy these days, anyone know what Honda will offer these days to retain it? Or suggestions for other SUVs?
A: you can trade in your lease, do so at the very end of your lease. if you really want to lease another new honda pilot, and you are happy with your current payment, try going to your local honda dealer. tell your sales person that you are interested in trading your honda (make sure you know the exact date of which your lease ends so you don’t have to pay any penalties), for a new pilot. and INSIST that you can’t go over your current monthly payment. NO EVEN ONE DOLLAR. be persistant but be nice. if they say, “no it can’t be done”, just simply say you’ll visit another dealer who can, get up and walk out. this is the smart way to do.
OR,
you can do the dumb way! which works better for the consumer. go in there, say you MAY be looking to trade your pilot for a new one. you haven’t made up your mind yet, haven’t seen the new pilot, maybe considering a Nissan Murano or Pathfinder, or Toyota Highlander. you and the sales person will probably ask you or just divert you to go inside. don’t let him/her! say you want to look at the pilot. you don’t even know if you’ll like the new one. try wasting their time a little bit, stall, see different colors, different options. you want to do this because after taking up 1-2 hours of their time, they will want to make the deal at the end! or else it was all just a waste of time. but know that you’ll probably be getting one that is similar in options as what you currently have… or maybe just one or two extra things.
when the sales person gives you a “pencil,” which is the computer printout of the value of your trade and your monthly payments, which will be much higher than you expect, just play really dumb… “oh man! this is much more than i wanted to pay.” they sales person may say, “well how much were you looking to spend?” this is the time to just be really dumb! whatever you are paying now, back it off by about $100-200. there is alot of room to negotiate on Pilots, as there is on most big vehicles. if it does not work, you could always just leave and try it at another dealer.
Q: Any ideas about playing IPOD on Honda Pilot 2007?
I need help playing music from my iPod to my car.
So far in my research I have found that there are 3 car audio solutions: FM transmitter, cassette adapter, and buying a completely new stereo.
I drive a 2007 Honda Pilot and it does not have a cassette player. I just bought a DLO Transpod and i couldn’t find a good quality FM channel(I live in Houston, so it’s kinda hard.) I just bought this car a few days ago, and not looking to buy a completely new stereo. Are there any other car audio solutions to sync your iPod with your car stereo?
A: The switching FM mod Sparky mentioned is a good choice and is the cheapest ~$30. Since it interrupts the FM feed (disables FM stations) and feeds the signal directly into the radio via the antenna plug.
The interface Conejote is talking about is a direct auxillary input. This will be a cleaner input, but it is alot more expensive. The model shown is $150.
Other drawbacks on the aux input are:
First of all, it has not been tested on the ‘07 models. However, there are generally very few changes between model years unless the vehicle has been redesigned.
These are the limitations listed on the website for this interface.
Honda:
*not for in dash 6cd sysmtem
*factory xm/sirius disabled if present
*factory navigation requires special wring harness made by installer
*subwoofer equipped models require custom harness
*not compatible with navigation systems
*not for rear seat dvd entretaiment
Q: 2007 Honda Pilot. Do I need snow chains on all tires?
I’m taking my brand new 2007 Honda Pilot near Mt. Rainier this weekend to harvest a Christmas tree. The path to the cabin is a less-than-well maintained forest service road. It will be very snowy and very icy. I want to use chains in addition to the VTM-4, but am not sure if I have to use them on all four tires — I have heard conflicting opinions. Please advise ASAP!!
A: Since your Honda Pilot has VTM-4 (an all wheel drive mechanism), you are better of putting chains on all four tires because this system will shift quite a bit in this situation to get the best traction and you do not want it to have to select only between two wheels. Do have fun.
Q: New car! Wanting a Honda Pilot or CR-V. Which do you think I should get?
A: How much SUV do you need? The Pilot makes the CR-V looking rather toylike, but aesthetics aside, it’s tough to make a case for a larger, thirstier vehicle if you don’t need its capabilities.
If you aren’t going to spend much time off-road, and you don’t routinely carry seven people. the CR-V is the logical choice, andit can be somewhat thriftier in 2WD form. I’ve always subscribed to the notion that the only thing 4WD is good for is getting stuck someplace you shouldn’t have been in 2WD.
If the appearance is that troublesome, you might want to cross-shop the Mazda CX7 and the Nissan Rogue.
Q: Am I ever going 2 get a 2009 Honda Pilot?
Band new 2009 Honda Pilot-$40,000. Key Features: 6-Disc CD Changer, Built-In GPS Navigation, Sunroof, Leather Seats
A: I don’t know. Don’t you think thats up to you?
Q: I broke the tire pressure monitor systems (TPMS) attached to the wheels of my 2007 Honda Pilot.?
Can I use a TPMS from a 2006 Honda Pilot? Or do I need to buy it new from Honda and use a 2007 part?
A: you should be able to use the one from the 2006. if you drive the vehicle with the new sensor installed the system should ‘automatically’ recognize it. if it doesn’t then you will have to have a dealer initialize the sensor.
a dealer can look up the part numbers for the sensors for both years to confirm they are the same. I’m not aware of any change between the 2006 and 2007 as those were the early years of the TMPS systems on Honda.
Also, tirerack.com can tell you if the sensors are the same if you need additional confirmation as they are the tire supplier to honda dealers for the ‘factory’ replacement tires and I belive they carry the sensors as well.
hope that helps
Q: I need a new family car, which car is good? Chevy Traverse, Ford Flex, Honda Pilot or Toyota Highlander?
Ok, the moment has finally come, we need a new family car, I have narrowed it down to four cars, the Chevy Traverse (which is a less expenisive version of the GMC Envoy), the Ford Flex, the Honda Pilot, or the Toyota Highlander. As you can see we have looked at both domestic and foriegn automakers. My husband is willing to give GM aka the Chevy a chance, but Chrysler aka anything made by them is out so that canceled out all Dodge, and Jeep too. We have twins, so we need room in the back, and the third row is needed for the occasional extra traveler like my mom or dad. I like the Toyota personally, but I guess it can be the smallest of the four, and the Ford is the lowest of the four (I am 5′ 10″) and he is (6′2″) so these things have to be considered. The Pilot seemed roomy, but the ride was stiff, I liked the car like ride of the Highlander and the Traverse. These are all things to be considered I guess. So which do you think would be best for a family of four that is tall, needs room, wants a car like comfortable ride, sometimes has an additional traveler, and takes an occasional trip as in once a year. We plan to have this car until my 2 year old twins go to college so something that would last 16 years maybe. Oh and I wanted a van, but Ford quit making thiers, so did Chevy, Dodge has one, but it was flimsy, I liked Toyota’s but my husband was not hot on it, and Honda’s van was very dated and cramped for us. Please help, my husband is deployed and he is expecting me to purchase this car without him. Heck, I might just put the carseats in the Toyota van and just be done with it. any opinions??
A: Yeah, check out the new Toyota Sequoia, if its still in your price range. Its a roomy, tall SUV, 3rd row folds flat if you need more cargo room. My friends and i took the current generation Highlander up to the ski resort and it fit all of our stuff and then some. It also handled the snow pretty well (it was snowing during the drive up) I really liked the ride.
But i personally think a van or minivan is better because of the sliding doors. Those provide more space for loading the car seats or for the youngsters to get in and out. I know that the current 2011 Toyota Sienna offers a fold flat 3rd row. I think the 2006 and later Sienna also does too. My dad has a 03 sienna and its working just fine. The original transmission died close to 300K miles, so with some general care, a Sienna could last you guys a really long time (longer than the Honda minivan)
I would recommend the Toyota Sienna (i like the 04 to present designs)
