Q: Honda CR-V Diesel Coming in Late 2009 | Upcoming Cars India?
With the current diesel engines being quick, silent and efficient; they are giving the petrol engines a run for their money. After manufacturing only petrol engines for decades, Honda has produced its first diesel engine to boost its sales. Honda Siel will use this engine in its CR-V to boost its sales and compete in the current Indian market. A: yes diesel is being more and more popular despite rises at pumps.

Q: How is the 1998 Honda CR-V LX?Does anyone own one? do you like the car?
I found a 1998 honda crv on sale for $5995.it has 94,491 miles on it.I just wanted to know if they were good reliable cars..I heard hondas were good quality cars so I was thinking it should be a good enough investment

A: First gen CR-V is no good. The engine had valve gap tightening problem. I would go with 2nd generation CR-V (2002 or later) just to be in a safe side. I guess it is ok as long as you have the valve adjustment every 60K or so. If you don’t, then one day, your valve will hit the piston and entire cylinder head will crack (cylinder head replacement runs around $2000)

Q: what is the real price that dealers pay for a 2008 honda cr-v?
i know that msrp is about 24,900 and invoice(sticker price) is approx.23,002 i checked that on kelleys blue book but what is the real price they pay before putting this car on sale?

A: Markup on new cars is generally 5-8 %. Higher end/specialty a bit more. Beat em down! Just remember if trade is involved, you will be getting ACV ( actual cash value ) for yours. KBB is inflated no matter what you are looking at. If your trade is worth 8-10 ( 8 would be a car needing fixing up for the lot) they can probably buy from Manheim’s auction for 6k. They are not going to put 8k into a car that can be bought from dealers auction at 6k unless they need to put a deal together.
Good Luck.

Q: i am planning to buy a honda cr-v 2000? help!?
Hi- I am buying my own car before summer ends and i found a honda cr-v 2000 ex with 50,000 miles on it for sale by dealer. I have a honda-civic 2000 and i am planning to trade it in. This is my first time buying a car does anyone have any suggestion, opinions and advice. How much would an estimate monthly payment be on a 10,000 dollar car- my civic will probably be downpayment of 5,500. My credit- I have a college loan that I am paying off slowly so I don’t know what that looks like. He said it will 8% interest rate if i have good credit. Also anyone know of any good insurance companies for cars in northeast region. I am a bit scared because I make 2000 a month- my rent is 675+60 cell ph+ 100 food+estimating at least 200 or more for gas for the cr-v+ car payment. anyone ever done it.

A: Good choices on the Honda but on 2000k a month why not get on older model and no have payments. 8% is BS I’ll bet you get closer to 10% I’d trade that civic for 5k for something around 6-8k and wait until you school loan is paid off. Good feeling to drive a car with no payment.

I second the progressive ins suggestion they are decent….but stay far away from american with poor quality control….They pay little $$$ to have them assem in other countries and then rape you with price tag and repairs.

Q: Question about buying a new Honda CR-V from a Honda Dealer. Help.?
My wife and I just purchased a brand new 07 Honda CR-V. We sat down with the sales person and worked out a deal. We have fair credit and were just dismissed from chapter 13 bankruptcy, so we kind of expected a high interest rate which turned out to be 9.99%. The estimate showed our payments were to be around $350 a month for 5 years if we did a $4000 down payment and we were happy with that. Then the pressure came on when we sat down with the Finance guy. We had the standard 5yr/60k warranty, but he talked us into the 8yr/80K warranty and something else called GAP coverage which covers you if you ever get upside down on the vehicle. This bumped our payments up to a little over $400 a month and put us stretching our budget a little more than we wanted to. Did we get taken to cleaners or is this deal feasible? If so can we just purchase the vehicle and go with the standard warranty without getting all the extra stuff? Please help us if you can and thank you for your time

A: Gap insurance is used on a purchase or a lease and I highly recommend it.If your new car were to get stolen or wrecked your insurance company would pay book value for it. The problem is that once you bought it book value is based on a used car. Typically a customer owes more on a car than its worth for the 1st 2 years. With a higher interest rate less of your payment goes to prinicple so this time period is longer. Gap insurance would pay the difference between what you owe and what your insurance pays { it also covers your deductible}. This way you don’t end up with a car payment and no car. I would pass on the extended warranty. It’s costly and CRV’s are very reliable and inexpensive to fix.

Q: Will a 2006 HONDA CR-V CRV AM/FM CASETTE CD 6-DISC CHANGER fit and work in a 2003 Honda CR-V?
Please…all you mechanics out there! Can some one please help me? My Cd player in my honda crv 03 just stopped working, and I saw one for sale pretty cheap, it looks exactly like mine, but it is out of a Honda Cr-V 06….please let me know what you think! Thank you so much!

A: With mp3 cds 6-disc changers are obsolete.

Q: Starting over….HONDA CR-V?
Ok, let me try to rephrase the question….
I have a grand am, that the dealership says has negative equity value, meaning, I owe more on that car, than what they think it’s worth…..

So, I went to a dealership to trade in my car, with 0 down payment and a co-signer….
The sales rep stated, the less expensive car I choose, the MORE my downpayment will be, so the last car I looked into, was a 2008 HONDA CR-V, 10k miles at about $23,000. The sales rep responded saying, I got approved, but my monthly payments would be right at $600 a month.
So does that seem too much to pay for that type of vehicle?

Hope that made more sense…….

A: the basic math to determine if this is a good proposition for you is
to subtract the ‘negative equity’ from the $23,000 to find out the selling price of the CRV. then you can determine if you are getting a good deal on the used car.

to determine the negative equity, look at the payoff value on your loan–that should be on your monthly statement or you can call your lender and ask what the payoff is.

to determine the value of your grand am, go to http://www.kbb.com and put in the information on the grand am into the used car value appraisal calculator. follow the steps to add the mileage, options and condition and then use the trade-in value as your guide. You didn’t give the year of your car, but for example I used a 2003 Grand Am SE 4door with 80000 in good condition and the trade in value is $3000. If you owe $4000 on the car then your negative equity would be $1000 ($4000-$3000)

then look up the value for the CRV–for a 2008 2 wheel drive in excellent condition the value is $22, 310. Add the negative equity and the total would be a financed amount of 23,310. so if these numbers are close then you are getting a ‘fair’ deal. the reason its fair is that the dealer is not discounting the CRV, you’re paying full retail for the used car. if you’re negtive equity is over $1000 then the CRV is being discounted by any amount over the $1000 and you’re geting a better deal.

As for the $600 per month, it depends on what the interest rate is and how many months the loan is for. at 6.5% (typical for a used car loan) for a 48 month loan with 0 down you are right at the $600 payment and that’s a fair deal. if you can get a lower interest rate the monthly payment will be less. If the payment term is for longer than 48 months its a very bad deal and you should walk away.

hope that helps

Q: Are there any advantages of the Honda Fit over the Honda CR-V , or visa versa ?
My very first car was the first Honda Civic, and I loved it. I am a musician , so I need a hatchback to carry around my guitar, harmonium , amplifier, etc…..I drvie to and from Montreal every week, an hours drive to Rawdon, so I need something that is econimical on gas. Ive spoken to many mechanics and it seems that two of the best hatchback cars on the market , for economy , quality, ease of repair, is the Toyota and Honda. V W Golf, Subaru and Mazda were also mentioned to me, but out here in the country there are few V W mechanics and I have heard that Mazda parts are very expensive. Subarus dont seem to be as commen, at least not so many for sale under $ !0,000 out here, which is my budget. A localdealer is selling a Honda Fit 2007 Manual transmission, for $ 10, 845. When I told the rep that I only had $ 10,000 to spend , he said that probably his boss would drop it down to that price for me. I need to kknow if I should go with the Honda Civic or if the Fit is better or an improvement over the Civic hatchback, or if there is anything I am overlooking or not aware of.

A: Well in terms of comparison the Fit is considerably more like your old Civic. The CR-V can feel a bit more “floaty” especially in strong winds. The Fit sits lower to the ground and, in my opinion, a more enjoyable ride overall. The CR-V, while not a bad vehicle, is a bit larger and doesn’t make up for it with weight or power (granted the new ones are a bit nicer than the previous models).

The Fit is Go!

Q: 2008 Toyota Rav-4, 2008 Honda CR-V, 2008 Nissan Rogue or 2009 Subara Forester?
With another child on the way (for a total of 2), we are looking to step up from a 2004 Matrix to probably a Rav-4, CR-V, Rogue or Forester. I drove the CR-V, and it was ok (good driver visibility and somewhat quieter than the Matrix, but not hard to do that). And I still have to drive the Forester, the Rogue and the Rav-4.

Our primary concerns are safety and storage space (kids need lots of stuff to travel), and for me, good handling with good driver visibility. Consumer Reports said that getting child seats into a CR-V was difficult, but from what I saw, it looks easier than the Rav-4, where I could not even feel the child seat anchors. The Toyota sales rep did not have a clue on how to install the child seats on the Rav-4.

Any Rav-4, CR-V, Rogue or Forester owners out there with young kids with opinions good or bad about these vehicles? Any and all input is welcome. They seem fairly evenly matched and MSRP’s are all within $2,000.00 of each other.

Thanks for your input.

A: Consider a Mercury Mariner-one of the nicest small SUV’s around. PLus keep your hard earned $$$ from going to Japan!

Q: Help finding a CR-V, please!?
I’m very particular about the car I’m looking for, and I can’t seem to find it anywhere. I’m looking for a white Honda CR-V with a tan/brown interior. I’d like one with less than 90,000 miles on it and no older than an ‘02. My maximum price is $11,000.

I know that’s really picky, but if anyone can find a listing like this, please let me know!

Also, are there any websites with a bunch of listings for cars that are for sale by owner?

Thanks!

A: You didn’t say where you were located.

Here is one in NJ:

Q: Which is the best family car for sale in India?
I am looking for a spacious, comfortable, and reliable car. Within a budget of 25 lakhs. Which is better The toyota Innova or The newly released model Toyota Fortuner. In terms of fuel efficiency as well.
I really like the Honda CR-V as well but the only problem is its a five seater , does Honda have any plans to introduce a 7 seater. Are there any other good family cars?? Does Audi have any 7 seaters??

A: IF you are NOT the status conscious guy, and if you are looking for a good family car, go for the Innova. It’s a great spacious vehicle, comfortable, and mile-muncher too. And its good in terms of fuel efficiency as well. Cost of ownership is not too heavy on the wallet either.
To top it all – its a TOYOTA.

Q: Can I get my deposit back on a deal that went south?
Sales assoc. told me to give $500 deposit & they would get a certain car for me. They didn’t have the car I wanted on the lot so they were to dealer trade one. I was told that their were plenty of the the type of car I wanted. I waited 4 days and was told that they were having trouble locating the Honda Cr-V EX that I wanted, but would I settle for an EX-L or LX model. I told them no and that I wanted my deposit back. I was told before I gave them my credit card # that it was a refundable deposit. I seem to be getting the run around. After I told them I wanted my deposit back, they tried to get me to give them until noon the next day to try to find something. I said No, I just wanted my deposit back. I said I wanted confirmation that my credit card had been refunded sent by fax. The sales assoc. said OK and give him a few minutes and he would call before he sent it. I waited for 2 hours. Then they told me the lady who knows how to refund my credit card had already went home.

A: This is very simple. They cannot keep your money. If you don’t have a contract, then they have no right to hold on to your funds. If you do have a contract, then they have to follow through with the type of car that you agreed on or they have to give you a refund.

In reality, this is not about the $500. This is about them not wanted you to go to another dealership. They figure that as long as they have your money, they have eliminated that possibility. They figure it’s a waiting game and after a while you will want a car so badly that you will take one you didn’t originally want.

I would call your credit card company and tell them not to pay the $500. If you dispute the charge, the dealership cannot invoice the credit card company for the $500 and you are all good.

Q: Should I buy a Kia Sportage?
I am looking at a cross over vehicle. I have a Toyota that I really like. I have 0 experience with Kia.
I’m working with a sales man that can sell – Nissan – Honda – Kia – etc. I like the Nissan Rogue. I like the Honda CR-V but not crazy about the design. The vehicle is going to be mostly just me – sometimes 2 cats in carriers and a dog. I want comfortable seats and a comfortable ride with some fun. — Am planning on going for a test drive on the Sportage.

How is it for reliability and dependability?

I can’t seem to find many, if any reviews of the Sportage. Sorrento – yes.
Hmmm–want something with comfortable seats – Subaru Forrester is looking better and better.
Thank you.

A: “Kia’s are sh’tty cars. unsafe, unreliable, unattractive.”

took the words right out of my mouth.
idk how much money you can afford to spend, but if you can afford a few thousand extra get a vw tiguan, or even a mazda cx-7.

Q: Is it safe to buy an Isuzu?
A 2004 Isuzu Rodeo “S” is for sale with only 53k miles. (for about $9,000)
Has anyone ever had major problems with this
generation Rodeos?
Do they last long?

Or should I just go with a 01 Honda CR-V “SE” with 80k miles on it,
for about the same price..

Although the bank will probably give me a shorter loan like 36-48 months for the CR-V
(because its an 01′)
as for the Rodeo, they can give me about 60… I’m just sayin! haha

A: buy an Isuzu?
A 2004 Isuzu Rodeo “S” OH! yea good vehicles made some parts r made different japanese companies
overall Honda is the same

Q: Talk someone out of buying a new Hyundai?
My dad wants to buy a new 2009 Hyundai Tucson because of their special gas promotion ($1.49/gal for a year) which will save him $800 in gas. Plus the Tucson is on sale for $10,000 after Cash 4 Clunker…. he will also trade in a 7 year old Camry which brings the price down to $5000.

So should he trade it in for an inferior Hyundai or pay $5k more and get the Honda CR-V?
To clarify he is trading in two vehicles. First an old truck with body damage maybe worth $500. And the Camry with check engine light that wont go out even after $2000 in repairs by 5 Toyota dealerships. Goes out only by unplugging battery but lights up again after 1000 miles.

A: First of all, it’s amazing to me that some people still don’t know the difference between North and South Korea.

Secondly, I think your dad is getting a great deal on a pretty good little truck and I think he’s tired of wasting money on a car that seems to be more of a headache then not. Why would he keep an unrepairable 7 year car after he’s spent $2000 on it?
Come it think of it, I never had to take my 8 year old Hyundai with 150,000 miles on it to the dealer for anything but light maintenance. Plus, I know others with similar experiences with their Hyundai’s. You may want to rethink your perception of the brand.

To be honest the CR-V isn’t that great for the money Honda wants for it.
