Q: when is ford edge hyseries for sale?

A: It is slated to go in sale in the 2010 model year

Q: When will the Ford Edge Sport be available?
I am interested in the Ford Edge Sport shown at the 2008 Chicago Auto Show. Any dealers know when this great looking vehicle will be for sale?

A: No Doubt the Edge is a nice ride, I have an 07′. The 09 Edge sport should be out sometime in the fall. (Sept., Oct.)
I sell Fords for a living so the info’s pretty dead on.

Q: Buying a 2007 Ford Edge?
I went to the Ford dealer today (1/26) and I’m going to put 12k down on the car and finance the rest. The total for the car with tax, title and tag is 16k. They did the whole qualification thing for the fiancing part and I was approved. I asked the dealer if I needed to come back in and give a deposit so they wouldn’t sell the car, but he said not worry, he would put it on hold until Friday. They are not putting it in the back because there’s no cameras and it’s dark, so there keeping it out where people can still see it. How do they put cars on hold so the other sales associates know that a specific one is not available? Do they put it in the computer as not available for sale?
I’ve actually looked at some insurance quotes and Geico seems to have the best rates. I know I have to get full coverage on the Ford Edge since part of the balance is being financed. I currently own a Ford F-150 so I did the quote with it and the Edge and it was $677 for 6mths, I don’t think that’s bad at all considering that’s with my husbands speeding ticket. Most places I was looking at wanted $800-$1000 for 6mths! I’m hoping they’ll let me put the vehicle on my exsisting coverage, or do they have their own insurance I have to go through??

A: You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here – carquotes.imess.net

Q: How to convince parents to buy a new car for THEMSELVES?
what are some good points to prove to my parents to buy a new car? right now they have a gas guzzling ford van and the dealer where my dad got his car are having a special sale with no down payments and no payment until four months from now if he trades in his car. I researched the ford edge quite abit and i think its efficient, stylish and affordable. What do you think of this car? and how do i prove points to my parents to convince them they will be happier with a new ford edge then their old ford windstar?

A: tell them new cars are efficient and has lesser cost on gas and maintenance and with the added bonus of safety features .

Q: With car dealers desperate for sales now what is the best way to get a steal?
I was looking to get either a Nissan Murano or Honda Pilot. We have looked at the Ford Edge but not sure with what is going on with the big 3

A: Both GM and Ford are currently offering supplier pricing to the general public right now. The best buy would be to buy an ‘08 from one of those companies to take advantage of the huge rebates and supplier pricing at the same time.

Americans better stand behind your fellow americans or get ready to stand behind the promises we will have to make to foreign countries in order to get them to bail us out since we didn’t do it ourselves.

Q: I want to trade in my truck for a new car?
I currently have a 2004 Ford Ranger Edge and I just replaced two cylinder heads and it cost me $2500, and I had no warranty on it either. Anyways, I bought it last July/August at a tent sale and it had one previous owner and no accidents, and well I need more room and I want to trade it in for a car, a sedan or coupe. I still owe 10k on it, but I dont really have that much money for a down payment, and my payments already over $300 and my apr is 19%. I’m looking to trade it in for a 12k-13K car that I want and it’s new. I don’t have the time to sell it myself and I know that I wont get 10k for it. It has 46k miles on it and is in excellent shape. Any suggesstions on what I can do besides privately selling it because I dont wanna have to sell it for what I owe on it and pay the bank and then I would be out of a vehicle, or have someone else take over the payments, I dont trust people, so privately selling is not an option and I don’t want another used car.

A: Another option is that Carmax will buy used vehicles and then they can roll any difference into a car that you purchase from them. I advise against get to deep into a car and owing much more on it than it is worth.

I bought a SUV from them and got excellent customer service from them.

Good luck!

Q: F150 seems to have the edge over Tundra, but how significant of an edge?
I get 0 percent for 3 years or 1.9 for 5 years for Tundra. Ford’s sales over 25 years as an industry leader are not relevant to me regarding my decision for 2010. And while I don’t necessarily doubt Ford makes a better truck (and I have to admit, I even like the way the F150 looks compared to other trucks), how much better is it? If it “edges” the competition by a mile or so per gallon in fuel economy, or it offers some “convenience” feature like the flat back seat floor, is that really enough to pay more with a traditional 5 or 6 percent interest rate? Anyone have an opinion about the Tundras vs. the Ford F150? Oh, and the only rating that Tundra edges out F150 on most of these car rating sites is the “dependability”. How can F150 get edged out in such an all-important category if it’s not as dependable according to experts who rate F150 as a better overall truck?

A: Only you know the answer to this question. How important is fuel economy to you? Even if the F-150 costs more up front, it’ll save you money at the pump, and even that depends on which engine you get, and if you buy a 2wd or 4wd truck. How important is a smooth ride? Have you tried negotiating with a dealer for a better offer?

To answer your question about dependability: there are several organizations that have their own rating systems, but JDPower is regarded as THE source, and they categorize their tests two different ways: Initial quality (problems reported in first 90 days) and Dependability (first 3 years). Dependability is usually a better indicator as to how well a vehicle holds up over it’s life, but in reality, after about that much time has occurred, a vehicles dependability really depends on how it’s maintained, and a number of other factors, such as environment. Toyota has issued a recall on it’s trucks because of problems with corrosion on the frames, which is relegated to states with snow and the use of road salt (this was not apparent in the first 3 years, and Ford’s do not have corrosion problems that compromise safety). Also, the newer Tundras are so new that good long term data is really not available yet, and it’s kind of pointless, because there’s really no scientific basis for comparison of longevity: it has a lot to do with how well you maintain the vehicle. Most service vehicles like Taxis, Police cars, ambulances, and contractor trucks are Fords, so they’re a safe choice if dependability is important. Beware of marketers: they’ll emphasize certain ratings, but they won’t specify if it’s average fuel economy, or just the highway economy. They often won’t mention who did the reliability survey, or the width of their margin of victory.

It’s a shame you’re not considering the Dodge Ram: it’s been ranked best by Car & Driver magazine, because it’s even smoother than the F-150 (the Ram has rear coil springs) and the 5.7 Hemi is probably THE most advanced engine, making 390 hp, but has great fuel economy (by truck standards) because it has cylinder deactivation, which Ford and Toyota don’t have. Take the Ram challenge!

Q: Will Ford survive the crisis?
I personally think Ford is ill equipped than GM to survive the crisis. The new Taurus was a bit of let down for me.
Does the Escape have the muscle to fight with Rav and CRV.The new Mondeo in Europe seems promising.Any plans abt Focus in US.Edge was also seriously lacking any Muscle. They are selling Jag,Land rover. What abt Volvo,Mazda.I once thought that
Mazda was the weakling in the group.I have never heard that Mazda is for sale.Is MAzda strong in the US.

A: Mazda is not a part of Ford proper. They are not owned outright like Volvo or Land Rover. Ford owns 1/3 of the company, and they’d have to be really dumb to sell that share. (But then again, they’d have to be pretty dumb to sell Volvo, too.)

Jag is not profitable, and in its history has only rarely been. Aston Martin wasn’t profitable, either. I’m not sure about Land Rover, but I suspect that’s the same.

Anyhow, yes, they’ll survive. They’re strong enough overseas that Ford will survive as a company. Even if their North American operations are gutted, Ford of Europe could always move in and pick up the pieces. And I don’t think it’ll even get that bad. Ford is not Rover.

Q: Discrimination??????
Just last week, Healy Ford sent me a promotion in the mail for cars on sale and with a scratch and win to reveal a number. If the number matched you would win something at the dealership like a walmart gift card from $5-2500. I decided to call about the inventory and this scratch and win. I was told that if your number matches for the walmart card, you wont know how much it is til redeemed. So we decided take a look at Fords. As I walk to the front door still outside, two salesman greeted me and asked how they could help. I told them. THey said to go inside to the man behind the big desk. As I walked inside, I walked around and admired the new Ford Edge. I saw the salesman from outside signal to the other the number 5 with his hand. Then The guy said, here is your $5 gift card. I asked I thought you didnt know the amount and he corrected himself. I was quite offended and I think they discriminiated against a young girl who was just there for the gift. Can I sue them?
Do you mean call the corporate headquarters? or the customer service at the dealership that I went to????
I am not offended by the $5 gift card!!!! People, do you not read the post???? I was offended by the fact that the salesperson outside came inside and gestered the number 5 to the guy behind the desk….for those that are a little slower, that means that based on what I looked like (didnt say more than good morning so how could he have known whether i was buying or not) he discriminated and determined that I should get the lowest prize. How did they know that I didnt plan on looking around. Again, by my original post, i AM SHOPPING AROUND!

A: Anybody can sue anyone for anything. What will you sue for ? What are your grounds? If you use discrimination, you will probably lose. You could sue on the grounds that they lured you into the dealership with a false promise but then you did win $5.00 so you would probably lose there too. How about being offended ? How much might that get you ? How about that they were running a scam? How much would that get you ? You would do better to reveal to the people in your town about the scam they were running.

Q: For the last few months my husband and I having been shopping around for a new SUV. It would be our first car

if i hadnt seen the other guy motion the number 5 with his hand, then i would have thought that my luck was getting $5. This really has nothing to do with money. It has more to do with the fact that they saw a young woman dressed in sweatpants (coming from the gym) who probably was just there for the free stuff…well not true really….we are car shopping!

A: Your question was interesting until you mentioned legal action.

The answer is GOOD LUCK, they have a hell of a lot more money for lawyers than you.

Instead of trying to sue, take it as a lesson that
NOTHING IN LIFE IS FREE.

Q: Which car to go for- Swift Dezire or Ford Feista?
Well i have been a maruti owner for many years and I currently drive a Zen and a M800. My experience with the company has been good but now I wanted to upgrade to a sedan. My budget was around 6-7 lakhs so I checked out many cars like Swift Dezire, Logan, Linea, SX4 and the Ford Fiesta. Since I drive less than 1000 kms a month I decided to go for the petrol version. Finally after many considerations I decided to eliminate Logan, Linea and the SX4. Now I have a choice between Swift Dezire ZXI and the Fiesta SXI. Both the versions offer similar features but the fiesta has an edge over the dezire as it has better drive quality, leather upholstery, a powerful engine and has no waiting period unlike the dezire. On the other hand swift offers a 6.1 lakh price tag (costs a lakh less than the fiesta), and maruti’s cheap and reliable after sales service. After taking the test drive of the fiesta I wanted to go for it, but I have heard that Ford has a very costly maintenance and poor after sales service. The parts are not easily available and you always have to look out for an authorized ford service center for all kinds of repairs. Please throw some light over this issue and suggest me the right car.
Thanks for the answers guys…but I am also intrested in knowing the after sales services of ford….can anyone tell me about them too

A: If you feel comfortable with the external looks of the Swift Dzire… then go in for it as it is one of the best VFM car on the Indian road.

Fiesta on the other hand, as you have rightly said, is a driving pleasure. If you buy a Fiesta, then atleast for the two/three years you will not need a major repair… and that too if you are good driver. On the other hand, Maruties are not that tuffy… so you will occassionally find them in garages… The only negative point about Fiesta is that it is aging… (but I’ll say it is aging but very gracefully…).

If you are only looking for a VFM, then close your eyes and go in for Swift DeZire.

If you need something more substantial in terms of toughness, solidity and driving experience…. Then you should not look any further than Ford Fiesta!

Q: What kind of car or SUV should I get for a gruaduation gift?
Hi. I wanted to know what kind of Car or SUV should I get when I learn how to drive? Should I get a Jeep Grand Cherokee or a Dodge Nitro? Or should I get a Ford Edge or a Ford Mustang? Is there any good dealerships around Davidson? I have been to Huntersville Ford before and should I ask them if they have a Ford Escape? Is there a Dodge Dealer near Davidson that has Jeeps and Dodge Nitros for sale? Should I ask my dad to teach me how to drive? Please offer good feedback and I like a Dodge Nitro the best and they are soo cute looking. Please help me to pick a car. Should I look on Auto Trader? : ) Do you like Dodge Nitros? I do. Please offer good advice for me starting to learn how to drive and what kind of car should I get??? Thanks for your help!!!! Should I get a Jeep? My best friend named Hope has a Jeep and she might teach me how to drive and I like the 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokees. Should I get a dodge nitro? Thanks!!!!

A: GMC Yukon is coming out with an Hybrid summertime 2008…I am hoping for an Envoy version too.

Currently have an Envoy XL…LOVE IT. 1000% better than the Trailblazer version of the same vehicle.

Q: Dealership driving my car across the state?
Yesterday, my local dealer ordered a new Ford Edge for me from a dealer in another state. I wanted a particular color and there were no dealers near me that had it in stock. I signed all the paperwork today and got the bill of sale. The salesman told me 3 different times of when the vehicle would be delivered. I just found out that the dealership is having someone drive my new vehicle here. That is over 300 miles away. The salesman said that it was typical and that all dealers do that. I had no idea. I assumed it would be carried on a trailer or something. This makes me mad that my brand new vehicle will have all that mileage already. Is this right? Do the dealer do that? Is there anyway I can refuse the vehicle after it gets here even after I signed paperwork? What if there is highway damage to it? Please help!
Thank you for your help.

A: Yes. It happens all the time. The guys driving the cars….at least at all the dealerships I have worked for in my years in the business…are usually retired and will probably take better care of your car than you will. If it has damage, yes, you should be able to refuse it. Although, if you signed the papers with the correct VIN#, you may not be able to. A reputable dealership will let you refuse the car. The only way to get one without having miles on it was to take one of the lot. BUT you wanted a specific color. Why did you sign the papers without seeing the vehicle?

This happens every day so go get your new car and quit worrying about it. 300 miles in the grand scheme of things is nothing. It is still a new car. Trailering a vehicle costs way too much money. I’m sure they could have trailered it, but it would have been at your expense.

From your friendly Toyota Salesperson :)

Q: What would be the best exhaust kit to put on my truck after I put on Edelbrock Shorty Headers?
Alright I am panning on putting headers on my 2003 Ford F-150, 5.4L V8, FX4. Nothing done to the truck except for just a K&N air filter, not the cold air intake just the filter. I will be putting on the cold air intake kit later on, also with a edge programmer. I found some headers on Craig’s list for sale that were never used that fit ford trucks with a 5.4L from years 99-03. They are $200. They are called Edelbrock Shorty Headers #65633. I’m just going to paste what the ad said onto here…”NIB: Edelbrock Shorty Headers #65633. Direct replacement fit 1999-2003 F150, F250, Explorer with 5.4L V8, EGR, no air ride suspension. 50 state smog legal accepts factory emission equipment. TI-TECH coated for long lasting durability. Direct replacement for restrictive stock exhaust manifolds. Simple installation using stock crossover pipe. Mandrel bent tubing for unrestricted flow and more power. Includes all mounting hardware and gaskets. New in box. Never mounted.” Will these headers give me more power or are they practically just going to replace my stock headers with giving me no increase in power or sound? What does TI-Tech coated mean…like chrome? Are these good headers for the price? Will they give me a deep sound tone like a bubbling sound or just stock? I want a deep tone sound while idling, but when I punch it I want it to roar! Also and my final question what should I put on after the headers? I no I can’t straight pipe the truck…way to loud, but cool. I found what this guy did with his 5.4 but it had hooker headers “hooker headers 2 to 1/2″ pipe to 2 single in single out flowmaster super 40s, magnaflow tips.” My real question is I don’t know what would sound better a 2 inch single in single out cherry bomb glass pack or a 2 inch single in single out flowmaster super 40 but I don’t think I’ll put the magnaflow tip on though. Please answer ALL of my questions, I no alot about engines but not that much about exhaust…PLEASE HELP ME!!! Thank You to all who answer!! Open to all Suggestions!

A: 2″ on that displacement is wrong. On a N/A v/8 you want at least 2.5 closer to 3″ nothing above. Typical shorty headers are FACTORY direct replacements meaning you don’t have to replace other exhaust components. If that’s what they are all you need to do is replace the remainder of the exhaust with a new cat-back and high flow downpipe/cat. Should be available somewhere.

TI-Tech probably means it’s some sort of titanium coating but not actually titanium…meaning they’ll be strong and less prone to rust. (Can’t say just basing on what you said). Usually replacing steel with stainless will get you a little boost in power due to flow and bigger diameter. You generally get the most power from the replacement of the cat with a different unit (usually “high flow”) it reduces the back pressure so you shouldn’t really bump up the diameter of the piping (more than .5″) or remove mufflers/resonator. Just my opinion… The best mufflers you can get are Borla which will dampen the noise (magnaflow is okay but too rumbly); usually a crisp note. Cherry Bomb and flowmaster are a bad idea if you don’t want to lose your hearing/the cops pay attention to exhaust violations. Tips don’t do anything except improve the look.

But it’s up to you.

Q: Could somebody please grade my paper?
Cars of the 1930s
The Automobile Industry resisted the depression and welcomed a new look for cars throughout the 1930s. The stock-market crash lead into the Great Depression, nonetheless the farming and middle-class families did not entirely give up on cars. Throughout history cars have been the nation’s symbol of security, comfort, and leisure.
The “drop-frame” construction lowered the car’s center of gravity. The Ford 1932 V-8 significantly introduced the “drop-frame” appearance. Ford’s 1932 V-8 design brought the car’s height down from the high perch of early automobiles. It’s engine was moved over the front axels and the hood was expanded outward. Its sixty-five-horse power capacity gave the car strength. Many people including Clyde barrow favored this car, he said, “I have drove fords exclusively when I could get away with one. For sustained speed and freedom from trouble, the ford has got every other car skinned. Even if my business hasn’t been strictly legal it don’t hurt anything to tell you what a fine car you got in the V-8” He and Bonnie Parker had stolen a 1932 V-8 in Texas.
The 1934 Chrysler and Desoto Airflow models cut the edge of engineering and aesthetic auto production. The first car to feature a unified body and chassis was the airflow. The car had sturdiness on the road and a roomier interior. Despite the public found it unattractive, Chrysler structured the advances learned from the airflow into its line of mid-priced sedans.
Due to the great depression, the production of all vehicles fell 36 percent in 1930. It then fell 29 more percent in 1931. In 1932, it fell to about 1,300,000 vehicles, the lowest ever since World War one. GM’s Alfred P. Sloan had a strategy called “constant upgrading of product” or planned obsolescence, which meant encouraging consumers to trade up and blanketing the market with a car at the top of every price range. Later “constant upgrading of product” was called sloanism and moved GM to the top. Sloanism emphasized trade-ins and styling.
The styling department at GM made cars appear lower and longer. The 1932 Cadillac was the first car to eliminate the separate box-like trunk. By the end of the 1930s US Auto manufactures had established a unified structure, lower, wider passenger compartments that went throughout and up to the 1950s.
Aerodynamic styling, or streamlining, meant modeling their new cars on the design principles of high-speed trains and airplanes. This resulted in better speed and fuel economy, made the ride smoother, lessened wind noise and car’s drag. The once-separate body and chassis merged into a unified body.
Independent automakers failed throughout the depression years due to the low sales. Car companies that ceased to build were Kissel, Ruxton, Mood, Dobel, Jordan, Stearns, Gardener, Marmon, Peerless, Du Pont, and more. Not all went down; five companies survived Charles Nash, Hudson, Packard, Studebaker, and Willy-Overland.
The number of U.S. Automakers dropped drastically from 108 in 1923 to 44 by 1927. The big three were Ford, General Motors, and Chrysler. Large Automakers lowered their prices on their cars to stay in business.
In 1930, it was recorded that sales in the auto industry had dropped 2 million from 5 million, just in the previous year. The depression affected the countries entire economy. The big three got a bigger share of the market from the fall of the independent automobile companies. Their share increased from 75 to 90, over the time period since the 1920s.
Due to the plant closings, jobless workers, and low production the United Automobile Workers (UAW) Union was founded in Detroit, in 1935. The depression led many workers to strike and believe unionization was the only way to protect themselves from corruption of the companies. In 1935, congress passed the National labor Relations Act (NLRA), which outlawed the heavy-handed measures the companies had been using to break up unions. General Motors spent close to one million from 1934 up to 1936, the reason was for guards to patrol its plants. On May 26th, 1937, UAW leader attempted to hand out flyers at the main gate. They were stopped and trapped, who were beaten along with women, reporters, and photographers. The event became known as “Battle of the overpass.” To close down many plants, the UAW used the sit-down strike. This in effect did stop labor. By 1937, the UAW succeeded against GM and Chrysler. Ford continued to stop unionization. Ford Workers walked out on April 1st of 1941 causing the River Rouge Plant to close. In 1936, strikes by workers led to improved working conditions and wages.
