Q: Used Car insurance cost?
If i buy a 2010 ford escape used will insurance be any cheaper than if i buy it new, considering im 25 and have a clean driving record

A: Several methods you may think about.Like call your local insurance agent or do some researches on the internet, you should get the idea.

Q: Jeep Liberty or Ford Escape?
I am looking for my first car and I am getting a used one. So it will be around 2005ish-2007. I LOVE the 2002 Jeep Liberty but my mom said that is to old to get and my dad says all jeeps are dangerous. So I started looking at the Ford Escape and I love the 2010 one but I know I can’t get that. So baiscily I was looking for reviews on these cars and if you have one tell me what year and if you like it or not! THANKS!

A: I am an avid reader and subscriber to Consumer Reports. They have the Ford Escape as an overall good and reliable vehicle from 2004-2010. The jeep Liberty however is on their list of vehicles you should avoid buying because of the overall maintenance issues and low reliability. Hope this helps you in your decision.

Q: 2010 f150 esof problem?
I’ve just bought my new 2010 ford f150 with electronic shift on the fly.

When I try to engage 4wd hi,it has weired noise come from under the cab and grinding sound from the wheel. even after the use of 4wd hi, switch out to 2wd, the grinding sound is still there.this is my first half ton truck, please help!! I used to have a escape with all wheel drive. but I thoug awd is not as good as a true 4wd when got stuck in snow.please help!

A: As another fellow said, be sure you are operating it correctly. If operating correctly, and veh still makes grinding noise, make appointment with dealer to have checked. The grinding sound is not normal, it makes this sound when front axle is trying to engage the front wheels, or not engaging/disengaging fully. The cause can be a few different things, from faulty solenoid to vacuum leak. Fixing the problem should be easy, finding the true cause and then ordering parts may take a little time, reasonably 2 days. so expect to make arrangements for something else to drive. The dealer should be able to help you with this. Hope this answer helps.

Q: My parents are buying a new car, need help with suggestions?
so we used to have a Honda odyssey 2000, it lasted us a good 11 years with no major problems until now with the engine dying. So i was wondering if you guys know any good cars similiar to a van or suv that is also good quality for its price. My dad is considering the Ford escape 2010, it costs roughly 24000, Im not too excited with american ford and its quality but after looking at fords website it looks alright for its price.

Do you guys know any similar vehicles that might be better than ford escape for roughly same amount? It has to be sorta a crossover or van like vehicle as my dad needs the extra space to carry stuff now and then. No trucks please. Thanks

A: why not another Odyssey

Q: Same engine, same fuel capabilities?
The 2010 Ford Fusion 3.0L V6 is a FlexFuel engine. On regular gas, it is 240hp. I have a 2009 Ford Escape XLT 4×4 V6 with the similar 3.0L V6 (240hp). Question is… can I use E85 in my car too?

A: You can use the E85 only if it specifically states that your Escape is compatible with the fuel. Just because it is the same motor doesn’t mean that it will run on it. There is more to it, such as extra programming in the engine computer to adjust timing and other parameters to run the E85.

Q: Whats the difference in price?
My husband is looking to buy either the new Ford Escape Hybrid or just the regular For Escape (2010). Well the hybrid is about 14k more than the regular and we are trying to figure out how much more money would be saved/spent by going with which ever vehicle (in terms of using gas). We figure that we would be putting 100 miles on the vehicle each day, and also the hybrid gets 32 miles to the gallon and the regular one gets 22 miles to the gallon. And also that we only expect to keep it for the time of the warranty which is 7 years. So if someone could figure out the price difference at the end of the 7 years of filling up with gas once each day when they are compared to one another.

A: You wouldn’t save enough to be worth it!!!

Hybrids are too new to be cost effective, right now they cater to the eco-nut market

Q: Starting the new car hunt: Which practical wagon/CUV would you choose?
My wife’s car, a 2004 Nissan Sentra 1.8 automatic, has started having a few quirks that make us uneasy. With 100,000 miles on the odometer and the car nearly paid-off, we’re thinking very seriously about starting the hunt for a new car now, before any big issues rear their ugly head. She has about 65 miles of commute everyday, and we work different shifts (she’s on second shift, I’m on first) in different towns, so she really needs something dependable. Plus I don’t want to spend weekends working on her car, as I increasingly find myself, instead of spending time with her.

We’ve been making a list of possible candidates that we want to whittle down over the next year or so. With that said, bear in mind we’ll probably be looking at lightly used or “program” cars that are a year or two old, and we won’t be doing any serious shopping until late 2010-early 2011. Here’s our list of cars to check out so far:

* Ford Escape (2.5 four-cylinder, front-wheel drive, automatic transmission)
* Chevy Equinox (2.4 four-cylinder, front-wheel drive, automatic transmission)
* Nissan Cube 1.8S (1.8 four-cylinder, front-wheel drive, CVT automatic transmission)
* Hyundai Elantra Touring (2.0 four-cylinder, front-wheel drive, automatic transmission)
* Scion xD (1.8 four-cylinder, front-wheel drive, automatic transmission)
* Suzuki SX4 Wagon (2.0 four-cylinder, front-wheel drive, CVT automatic transmission)
* Chevrolet HHR (2.2 four-cylinder, front-wheel drive, automatic transmission)
* Mazda 5 (2.3 four-cylinder, front-wheel drive, automatic transmission)

Which do you like, and why? Are the others you’d include on the list?

A: Personally I am ahuge fan of GM cars,ut in this case I am not so sure I would pick, styleistically, However if you are looking for a car that will run excess of 160,000 miles I would go witht he GM, It is not just that I am an american motorhead this is my real world experience. A friend has a mazda, and that car is quite efficient. The cube however I feel like is a waste of time,it’s ugly and small and from wht I have seen can’t quite fit as much in it as you would expect. The hyundais are notoriousl for have crappy timing chains that crap out ,this is a costly repair. I would personally Go with either the Scion or Equinox. That is my opinion. Enjoy!

Q: Best Priced, Most Fuel Efficient Crossover ?
We’re planning on having a 3rd kid and need a bigger vehicle. I want a crossover (3rd row seating not being a minivan) that is reasonably priced and great on gas. I would like to have a 2009 or 2010, no older. I just can’t seem to find anything that is nice. I currently have a 2004 Ford Escape that I bought brand new and the sucker cost me $41,000!!! I was a novice on purchasing vehicles (this is the first and only vehicle I’ve ever owned). So I have a few problems with purchasing brand new and would prefer a 1 year old used…my car is completely paid for, so I have no payments and love it, so I don’t want to spend too much and have huge payments again; and I will not pay that much for a silly vehicle ever again.

I appreciate every ones help.

A: The only high-reliability, fuel-efficient crossover is the Toyota Highlander Hybrid, with an EPA-estimated in-city gas mileage of 27 mpg and on-highway gas mileage of 25 mpg. (Note that most of the gain is experienced in in-city driving.)

The 2010 Auto Reliability GPA of the Toyota Highlander Hybrid is 3.75 over a 4-year data history.

For comparison, here are overall 2010 Auto Reliability GPAs for several brands, in descending order:

Honda: 3.67 (an A)
Toyota: 3.53 (a low A)
Subaru: 2.61 (a low B)
Hyundai: 2.54 (a low B)
Mazda: 2.28 (a C)
Ford: 2.17 (a C)
Nissan: 2.13 (a C)
Kia: 1.93 (a C)
Volkswagen: 1.58 (a low C)
Saturn: 1.49 (a high D)
Chevrolet: 1.37 (a D)
Audi: 1.29 (a D)
GMC: 1.25 (a D)
Jeep: 1.08 (a D)
Chrysler: 1.04 (a D)
Dodge: 0.97 (a D).

Q: What is the red LED in the 2010 Ford Escape steering column for?
I just got a 2010 Ford escape and there is a little LED near the hazard switch in the steering column that keeps blinking red but I can’t find anywhere in the manual what it indicates. My friend has an identical Escape but his does not blink. Anyone knows?

A: It’s the PATS (Passive Anti Theft System) indicater light. See page 107-8-9 of your owners manual.
____Copy______
Anti-theft indicator
The anti-theft indicator is located in the instrument panel cluster.
• When the ignition is in the off
position, the indicator will flash
once every two seconds to
indicate the SecuriLock system
is functioning as a theft
deterrent.
• When the ignition is in the on position, the indicator will glow for
three seconds to indicate normal system functionality.
If a problem occurs with the SecuriLock system, the indicator will flash
rapidly or glow steadily when the ignition is in the on position. If this
occurs, turn the ignition off then back to on to make sure there was no
electronic interference with the programmed key. If the vehicle doesn’t
start, try to start it with the 2nd programmed key and if successful
contact your authorized dealership for key replacement. If the indicator
still flashes rapidly or glows steadily, the vehicle will not start, contact
your authorized dealer as soon as possible for service.
Automatic arming
The vehicle is armed immediately after switching the ignition to the off
position.
The theft indicator will flash every
two seconds to act as a theft
deterrent when the vehicle is
armed.
Automatic disarming
The vehicle is disarmed immediately after the ignition is turned to the on
position.
The theft indicator will illuminate for three seconds and then go out. If
the theft indicator stays on for an extended period of time or flashes
rapidly, contact your authorized dealer as soon as possible.
Replacement Integrated Keyhead Transmitters (IKT) and coded
keys
Note: Your vehicle comes equipped with two Integrated Keyhead
Transmitters (IKTs). The IKT functions as both a programmed ignition
key that operates all the locks and starts the vehicle, as well as a remote
___end Copy___

I hope this helps

Q: is it possible to get a remote start installed on a 2010 ford escape?
i’m broke so we bought the basic 2010 ford escape. it doesn’t come with a remote start on it, but i wanted to get one installed. about how much would it cost? and is it even possible?

A: As long as it’s automatic.
You can’t install a remote start on a manual car because the neutral safety switch is the clutch, which has to be pressed down for the car to start. In automatics, its just having it in “P” for Park.

I think Advance Auto has a Do It Yourself, or Install It Yourself rather, but its like $400. I’m unsure of the average costs but it cant be too cheap.

Q: Can I upgrade the radio on a 2010 Ford Escape?
Is it possible to replace the radio in a 2010 Ford Escape if it has factory installed SYNC and Sirus Radio? I wouldn’t mind changing the factory radio out for a double-din touchscreen or Navigation system. I want to keep it clean but don’t want to mess up the SYNC features if it’s built into the existing radio.

A: You can replace it for a touchscreen navigation system ( http://www.crutchfield.com/p_130AVIC310/Pioneer-AVIC-U310BT.html?tp=20212 ) but you will lose the Microsoft Sync feature with ANY aftermarket head unit.

Q: 2010 Ford Escape engine compartment only has primer in it and is not the same color as the exterior.?
I bought an Escape not to long ago and am just noticing now that they engine compartment is a dull gray color while the rest of the vehicle is a silver metallic paint with a clear coat. Does Ford paint all Escapes like this?
It had 3 miles on it when I bought it, and I ordered it from the factory. It could not of ever been in an accident.

A: Your Escape is normal. Why put flashy paint on an area where nobody but mechanics and owners ever look? Rest easy they did not screw you over.

Q: can anyone tell me their opinions on the 2010 ford escape?
i love asian cars but the ones i like are out of my price range. i saw the ford escape and it has a good price and the gas mileage is 22/28 thats what it says. anything about the suv? or any opinions on Ford cars in general? thanks!

A: Best one So far, you cant go wrong. But then there’s the Hyundai Santa Fe.

Q: 2010 Ford Escape Limited – Can the Escape be programmed to continue running after pressing the remote start?
When I unlock the doors to enter the vehicle it shuts off after opening any door.

A: well this is a dealer issue and it is under warranty if this was my vehicle i would not attempt to change anything because this might void the warranty best bet would be to call the dealership and ask them sorry but this is just my opinion

Q: How to turn on the Transmission light on my 2010 ford escape?
when i’m driving in the night, i can’t see any thing on my transmission, I thought it should be lightened up, but I don’t know how, does any one know how and where is that button or the Escape is just like that, It’s just sooooo unconvinience!
Yeah~I can hear it just….It’s not right….
And it’s a new one….

A: I have an 08 and it automatically lights up when the lights are on. Take it back to the dealer and have them fix it.

Q: does the 2010 ford escape xlt tell you what the outside temp is?
I am thinking of getting one and this is an important feature for me. None of the sites tell me this. Does the vehicle tell me outside temp?

A: Yes, my sis-in laws 2010 limited does in the messege center.

Edit: Here is the info you want.
I
I
I
V

Q: lf one was to buy a 2010 Ford Escape?
lf one was going to pay cash for a 2010 Ford Escape, what would they expect to pay..bottom line price after wheeling and dealing for a basic model with cargo package?

A: You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here – carinsurance.yoll.net

Q: What is the name of song played on 2010 ford escape commercial were guy was talking about no gas caps?

A: If it’s the commercial I’m thinking of, it’s:

Telekinesis! – Coast of Carolina

Google him – saw this guy while working a&r for a music firm. They didn’t bite, but Ford did. Great song.

Q: Which color do you prefer on the 2010 Ford Escape?
I am deciding between the:

          Brilliant Silver Metallic
White Suede
Black Pearl Slate Metallic

Copy and paste this link…then you can see the various colors and rotate the car 360 degrees.

http://bp2.forddirect.fordvehicles.com/2009-Ford-Escape#page=/Exterior/

Thank you!

A: After looking at the vehicle in different colors, I think the White Suede looks the best. Black is to simple, there are plenty of black cars, and the same goes for silver. So id go with the White Suede. Good Luck on your purchase.

Q: The 2010 Ford Escape why the extra peddle?
the 4th picture in the ad is a picture of 3 peddles adn the suv is a automatic!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2010-Ford-Escape-Limited-NEW_W0QQitemZ270454524835QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Cars_Trucks?hash=item3ef8588ba3&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245

What is it for?

A: its the emergency/parking brake pedal.

hope this helps

Q: 2010 Ford Escape XLS Tow Hitch?
I have a 2010 Ford Escape XLS 4cyl 2.5liter and I would like to get a tow hitch but I’m not sure if my engine is big enough to even worry about getting a tow hitch. Is that enough power to tow something like 250-500lbs? Or should I not even worry about getting a tow hitch.

A: Ask your dealer, not here, you’ll only obtain assumptions

Q: 2010 Ford Escape questions?
Hi there, I’m SO close to buying a Ford Escape (2010) that I thought I would ask some opinions of people who already have them. Firstly, do you like it, secondly, was it worth it, and lastly, if you could have chosen any other vehicle over the Escape, which car would it be?

I have a 2003 Ford Mustang Convertible Pony Edition with only 55,000 kms on it, and I went to the Canadian Blue Book web site to find out how much it was worth and got a price that was about $2,000 lower than what the dealer offered me if I traded it in. This Mustang is my first car, and it’s never been in an accident and it’s got a clean record. With that in mind, how do you get over the sentimental attachment to an object you value? I’m going to find it extremely difficult to let go of the Mustang, but if it’s going to save me a bundle on a trade in, then I shouldn’t think twice about letting it go. I’ve had the Mustang for almost 7 years now and although it’s nice, it’s not very practical and insurance is a killer ($3,100 the first year, $2,900 the following year, coming down with each accident-free year). What’s insurance like on the Escape? I hope it would be considerably less because it’s a) not my first car and b) not a sports car and c) I’m not a first-time car buyer now. It’s been paid for for years, and I take excellent care of it, and would do the same with the Escape if I buy one.

I think I need some advice… any of you Escape owners out there have anything good to say about it?

Thanks!
Dan

A: for the situation like yours,I would like to suggest you have a look here

http://www.Autoinsurancepro.info

you should find something useful.

Q: 2010 Ford Escape Release Date?
Does anybody know when the 2010 Ford Escapes will be “launched” and available for purchase in Canada? I want to buy a 2008, but will wait until the 2010’s come out to get a cheaper price!!

A: well maybe you should get an 07, mine was 12,000 which isnt that expensive for a car

Q: Can I lease a new ford escape with bad credit?
I currently have no car, and I really need to get into one. I was looking into getting a new ford escape but the thing is I have terrible credit, like its really bad. Will ford allow me to lease through them even with the circumstances?

If ford won’t, then are there any other car dealerships that will allow me to lease with bad credit because i really don’t want to have to buy another beater…..

A: Financed cars is more expensive to insurance cause it requires full coverage. You can compare how much you would pay for full coverage of this car using this tool – carinsurance.yoll.net

Q: Delivery allowance on a new Ford Escape?
On the website it says there is a $5000 delivery allowance on a new 2009 Ford Escape. I am wondering what this is? Is it just a rebate or is there a catch (like certain financing or down payment required)? Also, can the price come down even more than this with some haggling?

A: It sounds like a form of rebate. Look at other Ford dealer ads and see if this is offered elsewhere and the Ford website to see if this info is listed…if not at other dealers or Ford ’site, it may be a “come on ” ad to get you into the dealership

Q: What do people think about the Ford Escape suv? New or Used.?
Right now Ford is having a special for 0% 60 months on all new ford escapes. It looks like a great small suv. The payments would be 300-400 range a month for a new one. The car insurance would be around the 70-80 range a month. Is it a better deal to buy new or used on this suv? Does ford have the 5 year warranty right now?

A: I’m not sure about the 5 year warranty but, my roommate has one with leather seats and it’s pretty nice. It rides good and the back seat reclines on one side which is pretty cool, to me anyways lol. Also its pretty spacious for a small SUV. She hasn’t had any problems with hers and hers is a 2006. I would recommend getting a used one though, especially with the economy the way it is.

Q: How much does it cost to fill up your new ford escape hybrid?

A: $38

Q: On the new Ford Escape does anyone know if the $2006 rebate is a Ford Incentive and the dealer can do more?
I’m trying to determine if I can prod the dealer to give their usual MSRP discount on top of the current $2006 rebate on the Ford Escape.

A: I don’t know specifically what incentives are on this vehicle but you can obtain disclosure from the dealership. Just ask the finance manager what incentives there are. She or he will tell you what factory incentives there are and they may have additional ones that are available to buyers who qualify (i.e. students get a rebate or discount at certain dealers during certain periods of the year). Also there are differences in incentives depending on whether you are buying or leasing and if financing, whether you do it through Ford Credit or through an outside lender (bank or trust co.). I worked for Ford for four years (in service) and would not hesitate to buy an Escape. SI no longer work there (moved up to a better job) and I know several people who have them – all of them love this truck. You might (as a last resort) also try the Ford.com site and use the contact link to inquire about national programs.

Q: Would a new Ford Escape XLS with no extra features be Sirius capable?
I’m looking at an Escape XLS with no extra features. I know that the XLT and Limited modes come with a 6 month subscription, but would the radio in the XLS be Sirius capable? I can’t seem to find any info on this.

A: it might be an option, best way to know is to look at the roof, if you see the little “puck” antenna it is Sirius capable.

Q: Considering buying the new Ford Escape or Mazda Tribute. Which is better?
I know the Tribute and Escape are the same; sister vehicles. I thought maybe the Mazda would be more reliable..being a Mazda. I had a Mazda Precidia lasted me 12 years.
OTOH the Escape is cheaper and gives more options for less.

A: They are essentially the same vehicle. I think the Mazda’s exterior trim is a little prettier.

Q: My new 2007 Ford Escape SUV is totaled, so how much is it worth now?
I bought a new 2007 Ford Escape about 6 months ago, and it only has 8000 miles on it. After a recent roll over, due to ice, my vehicle has been totaled by the insurance company.

It was a 2 wheel drive XLT, V6 engine. With other features like leather seats, sunroof, cargo privacy cover, and upgraded radio/sound system.

I know a new car loses value after driving off the dealership lot, and that the insurance company is most likely going to give me a check based on the depreciated value of the SUV.

State Farm Insurance uses NADA retail value books, but does anyone have any other idea of how much money I should be expecting?

A: Figure $2k – $5k less than you paid for it, depending upon how good a deal you got on it.

My ‘06 Fusion with 14.5k miles stickered at $26,045 and I paid $22,300 (I’m eligible for X-Plan pricing). It books out at $21,300 right now. That’s unusually good, most cars don’t do nearly that well.

Q: What can I do to pimp out my new 2006 Ford escape at a resonable price?
I just purchased my first NEW car and want to make it look cool – but I’m on a tight budget. Any suggestions for ways to upgrade it without breaking the bank?

A: the best bet is to just make sure you have it super clean and shiny every week. I think anyone who “pimps” out their car as basically saying “I couldn’t afford anything nicer so I have to pimp this one out to make myself look cool” which is silly because people spend more money doing this than they do on the actual cars sometimes, plus I really like the ford escapes- they don’t need much. If you really want to make it look sharp though without being tacky, try getting plain dark tinted windows, a few silver accents, decent stereo, and keep it clean and shiny, inside and out. This makes a better impression and turns my head much moer than a crazy looking car with funky wheels, wierd window tints and silly stripes down the side. It’s a nice brand new car– just take care of it!!

Q: How do I activate the sattellite radio in my new 2008 Ford Escape?
I know the car is equipped, but how do I activate it?
I get the manual tomorrow, I just wanted to activate it tonight…

A: It is already activated ! Just press the button that says “SAT”
Your free subscription starts as soon as the dealer reports the sale, but the “Sirius” is already there & active.

BTW:
I don’t know why you have to wait till tomorrow for a manual…they should have given you the manual with the vehicle…..very odd.
You can download the manual for free here too:

http://www.motorcraftservice.com/pubs/content/~WO8204/~MUS~LEN/34/08204og1e.pdf

Enjoy ! Check out the all commedy channels! (they’re my favorite!)

Q: Does anyone know if the new 08 Ford Escape is worth getting?
I’m looking to get a hybrid car or suv in the next few months. This just happens to be in the running for my next vehicle. I do like to drive and i would like to get more involved in the outdoors. Would it be a wise choice?

A: It is a fine car. I’m getting tired of hearing people bad mouth American cars. Don’t be a sheep, buy a Ford Hybrid if you like it.

Q: Is $160 reasonable for a new 2007 Ford Escape Key?
I only have one key for my newly purchased 2007 Escape. My local dealer (Alexandria, VA) has quoted $60 for the key and $100 for the programming.

Is that a realistic cost? Can it be done cheaper?

Many thanks.
To clarify, it’s just a chipped key as I have a separate remote fob.

A: If it has the remote built in, jump on it. If it is the plain chip key, that is almost 3X too much.

Q: Do I really need the Ford Protector Package on New (2008) Escape?
I live in Wisconsin and just purchased at 2008 Ford Escape. They are trying to get me to buy a Protector Package which in theory will help keep the body safer from salt, won’t require waxing, will make the vehicle quieter etc….
Any thoughts?
Please no Ford bashing – that decision has been made.

A: It’s a dealer scam to get more money. All dealers do it and it’s not a manufacture thing, it’s the dealer.

Q: New Ford Escape????
does anyone drive a new ford escape? if so it is good on gas and on average how much would it be per month to lease it?

A: The new Ford Escape is really good on gas (22/28+ mpg) and I’ve heard promotions before that you can get one for $249 or $299 a month. And also to respond to the previous answer, a Toyota Highlander would NOT be a good choice. The Highlander is a much bigger SUV and it is not the same quality as the Escape.

Q: I have a Ford Escape 2003 and I’m thinking of trading it in for the new Ford Fusion.?
My car is valued at 7,000 dollars, do you think that is a good trade in value? I would like to finance the new Ford Fusion which is selling for about 18,000.00. How much do you think I would have to pay a month?

A: I have a 2006 Fusion which I leased for 320.00 per month for 36mos the sticker on the window was 23k I love the car and I will get another one when the lease is up. As far as the dodge charger comment saying ford sucks, that charger looks like a stretched version of the hyundai sonata

Q: ford escape SUV hybrid opinions?
I am would like to hear opinions about the Ford Escape SUV hybrid. I am looking for gas mileage and cargo space. What do I ask the dealership? Also what about a used one (good/bad idea) What kind of gas mileage does it get highway and is there some kind of tax break?

A: Those guys above could only give you opinions (most of which are inaccurate or flat-out wrong). Here are the facts:

The Escape Hybrid is a good car, with very low maintenance requirements because:

- The Escape Hybrid uses regenerative braking, which means you don’t need to change the brake pads until after 100,000 miles. Regular cars need brake jobs every 30K miles or so.

- The Escape Hybrid uses a Power Split Device transmission, which has only one single planetary gearset, no gear-shifting, no clutches. Because of this simplicity, it is FAR more reliable than the transmissions in regular cars, which uses complicated transmissions that has either multiple gear-shifting or friction-belt-driven CVTs.

- The Power Split Device transmission in the FEH is very similar to the Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive (Toyota Hybrids are good too).

- The Escape Hybrid has no starter solenoid / motor (which frequently causes trouble in regular cars), no alternator, no timing belt. Less things to wear out and need repair.

- The Escape Hybrid’s battery system has an 8-year / 100,000 mile warranty. If the battery dies within 8 years, Ford replaces it for free.

- You can get 30mpg easily with the FEH.

- The FEH does indeed qualify for a federal tax break if you buy (not lease) the car. $1950 for the 4WD model, $2600 for the 2WD.

- As a testament to how tough the FEH is, most of the FEHs in use with the NYC Taxi Fleet has racked up 200,000 miles with no problems, despite the abuse cabbies heap on them every day.

The Escape Hybrid is a great car for daily driver use, for hauling groceries or kids.

Get a new one so you can have the full 8-year warranty on the Hybrid system (rather than a transferred warranty that only has part of the 8-year 100,000 mile coverage left on a used one).

Those are the facts.

Q: What’s wrong with a Ford Escape SUV?
I’m looking at buying a used Ford Escape XLT (in New Zealand, not sure what the model is called overseas). Does anybody have the down low on this model. Are they any good? Looking at the 2001 to 2003 bracket, 3litre V6.

A: I have an 06 Ford Escape. I’ve had it for two years and its been a good car…I have had the water pump replaced twice…not sure if that’s a problem with all Ford Escapes or just mine, as I don’t know anybody else who owns one…but other than that its been great. The gas mileage is even decent, especially for an SUV.

Q: Need feed back from anyone that drives a Ford Escape SUV. Love the small SUV look-need pros and cons of it.?
With my bad knee arthritis finding it harder and harder to get out of my Dodge Intrepid. Love the look of the new small suvs…especially the Ford Escape. Need some feed back from anyone with any infomation on it. Thanks!!

A: our V-6 escape has been fun and reliable …no issues at all!…

Q: What is the better SUV … Ford escape hybrid , toyota hylander hybrid or the Honda CR-V ?
just would like to know cause we are looking for an SUV possibly …. does anybody know any better suggestions ?

A: I like the Ford Escape Hybrid. It is the best value out of the three. Rather than uninformed opinions like most other posters are giving you, here are some cold hard facts:

The FEH uses a planetary-gear Power Split Device (PSD) transmission that is very similar to the Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive (HSD) used in the Highlander Hybrid, so it has all of the same low-maintenance benefits as the HiHy, but the FEH costs a lot less.

Benefits of a PSD/HSD-equipped car:

- Uses regenerative braking, which means you don’t need to change the brake pads until after 100,000 miles. (Regular cars like the Honda CR-V will need a brake job every 30,000 miles or so).

- Transmission reliability. The PSD/HSD transmission is just one single gearset, no gear-shifting, no clutches. Its simplicity means it’s a lot tougher than regular gear-shifting multispeed transmissions (such as the one in the CR-V), or belt-driven CVT trannies.

- No starter solenoid / motor (which frequently causes trouble in regular cars– “boo hoo hoo, my car won’t start!”), no alternator, no timing belt. Less things to wear out.

The Ford PSD system and the Toyota HSD both have 8-year warranties, so if the traction battery dies within 8 years, they will replace it for free.

Not to mention the great gas mileage of the PSD/HSD-equipped vehicles, which is almost an afterthought.

As far as I’m concerned, you really can’t go wrong with a PSD/HSD-equipped vehicle, which includes:

- All Toyota hybrids (Hybrid Synergy Drive)
- All Lexus hybrids (Hybrid Synergy Drive)
- Ford Escape Hybrid (own-developed PSD drive)
- Nissan Altima Hybrid (licensed Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive)

But as far as hybrid SUVs are concerned, I feel the FEH is the best value.

Q: How to drive a Ford Escape Suv?
So im 15 years old and im getting my learners permit. Im gonna practice on my moms cars, she has a Ford Escape Suv.
So i know how to drive but i need like the steps.
Like how do i put the signal on??
& theres a stick with park and drive…
When do i use those?
Uh i know i sound stupid, but if you give me tips on driving this car it would be very helpful!
thank you
ohkay i know how to drive it and stuff.
But i just dont know where the signals are in the car?

A: Start the car, put the shifter into D(drive), lift off the parking brake with your foot on the foot brake and then slowly depress the footbrake whilst applying the gas pedal. The signal is the lever on the left of the steering wheel.

P.S. Your Mum and your driving instructor should really be telling you this.

Q: can a golden retriever fit comfortably in a Ford Escape SUV?

A: Totally! I had an Escape and our Weimeraner fit great in the back w/her bed. Now we have a Choc Lab as well and an Explorer, and they both fit nicely in the back (w/their beds too).

If you do road trips/camping, etc., I would recommend a luggage carrier. We just have a Rubbermaid one that cost about $30 and fits perfectly on top of the car in between the roof rack.

Q: would nice subs sound better in a ford escape (suv) or a saturn ion (small car)?
im getting nice subs and i was wondering which they would sound better in. thanks

A: the ford escape would sound best. because u dont have the back seat stoping sound from getting to u like u would in the saturn.. they sound better in my trailblazer then my cobolt..

Q: Would nice subs sound better in a ford escape (suv) or a saturn ion (small car)?
yeah… gettn subs so im just wondering

A: Depends on what you classify as “nice subs”?

18s for a SUV and 12s for the ion

Q: Is the Ford Escape a good looking SUV for a 20+ single man?
I need an suv on that size, but honda cr-v and toyota rav-4 looks like suv for women what do you think?

A: I think its a great looking SUV for a guy. I see many men driving these cars. Great fuel economy, has 4WD, i don’t like its 4WD system, but otherwise i like the escape. http://www.auto123.com/ArtImages/106404/2009-ford-escape-001.jpg Here’s the escape XLT sport. Great looking manly car. This is just like people say about my explorer. They tell me its not manly, its a SUV made for women. I love it tho. It has been great, reliable, and i think its manly. If you were to consider a truck, I’d suggest the ford ranger. Make sure you get a V6 escape, i’ve read good reviews on those. But i have read some bad things about the I4 escape. Lots of transmission trouble on those (4Cyl). Definately consider the escape. I think its a suitable car for guys, also for the ladies. But i agree, the Toyota and Honda looks like women suvs.

Q: Which is the better overall small SUV: Ford Escape or Honda CR-V?
With gas prices fluctuating the way they do these days, I need to plan ahead for my next vehicle purchase as my little Ford pick-up is nearing 240,000 miles. I’m 6′5″ so a car is out of the question, but I still want decent gas mileage. That’s why I plan on making the jump from small pick-up to small SUV.

I know both the CR-V and the Escape average around 24-25 MPG highway with an automatic transmission so I guess the rest comes down to overall durability and longevity. I feel a vehicle should take care of me as long as I take care of it. I’m looking for a good solid 10-15+ year vehicle here folks. I’d appreciate any advice you can offer.

A: That’s easy, Honda CR-V, its worth the buy, we used to own a Ford Escape until the reliability really was a pain. then we decided to switch to a CR-V a smart choice that was.

Q: is a ford escape a good suv?
Right now I own a Chevy Cobalt. I want an SUV because I live in PA and our winters can get pretty bad – and I travel quite a bit for college and need an SUV for the future (kids, etc.) Is a Ford Escape a good kind-of small SUV? I don’t want anything huge like a Tahoe for example.

A: I have a 2001 Escape with a V6 and 4 wheel drive that I bought new.It has been A very good car so far.It also gets about 23mpg highway.

Q: Is it worth buying a hybrid car/SUV like the Ford Escape if it cost thousands to buy over regular vehicle?
I heard that the Escape runs aboot 5-6k more than the regular Escape. This seems like a lot of money to save a few pennies at the pump. Also, are their any other American made car or truck hybrids that are worth looking at, and how does this relate to the cost differentials? Please advise.

A: You won’t save any money unless you own the car for a long time if you compare the hybrid and non-hybrid. However, if you want to help the environment, you might think it is worth it. Also, some hybrids actually have better performance than the non-hybrid models.

Q: SUV Hybrid – Ford Escape or Saturn VUE?
I’m in the market for a new SUV and REALLY want a Hybrid due to gas prices.

Based on my budget, it looks like my best options are the Escape or VUE.

Can someone help me out here. I’ve driven both and am leaning towards the Ford.

What are the good and bad things about each of these or is there another, better option I’m overlooking??

Hoping someone with some real knowledge can help me make this tough call.

Thanks
BS

A: I would go with the Ford. Ford has been making the Escape Hybrid for longer than Saturn has with the Vue. Also, I think the Escape is a much more stylish looking vehicle, I like the whole boxy look to it. And the Escape gets better city mileage, which is always a plus!! Hope you find a great hybrid! Lucky you can afford one! I can’t :’(

Q: How many mile can I expect to get out of a used Ford Escape?
Assuming it’s reasonlably well maintained when I get it, and I maintain it well. I would probably buy 2002 -2006. I want to make a taxi out of it.
Thank you.

A: I can’t tell you about the Ford Escape from personal experience, but it is a Ford truck, which makes it incredibly well built. I use ford Crown Victorias for taxis, and I get incredible service life out of them. One I currently have on the fleet has 200,000 miles on it. My wife’s Crown Vic has 367,000 miles on it, and my day driver’s taxi has 450,000 miles on it. Yes, 450,000. Original motor, original tranny. Change the oil, the tranny fluid, and the coolant on a regular basis; steam clean the engine at least three times a year; and fix whatever breaks quickly. You should have the same good results with the Escape.

Q: I want to buy a used ford escape 2004-2006?
what is lowest mileage i should look for, and what other things should i look for when looking for a used ford escape

A: You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here – carquotes.imess.net

Q: how much does a used/working ford escape trasmission cost?
I think it’s a 2003 ford escape and the transmission no longer works and I need to know where and how much it would cost to get a cheap working one.

A: Its FWD you might be able to find a cheap (relatively speaking) one at a wrecking yard the installation cost will not be cheap.

Q: What is the better USED vehicle? Ford Escape or Chevrolet Equinox?
Ford Escape or Chevrolet Equinox

Or suggest other of similar type.
Ok well base your answers on reliability and knowledge of these used vehicles.

A: My friend’s Equinox is incredibly roomy inside. People in the back seat have so much room you would think its a full size SUV. The stock basic sound system is good although some of the plastics of the interior are a little cheap. Also his rotors became warped but otherwise the power steering is so nice that you could drive with just your pinky. Brakes are good apart form the warped rotors. It comes standard with a V6 so it has ample power too.

The ford Escape is virtually the same car as the Mazda Tribute and I remember the interior being a little crowded to be honest and with nothing too great sticking out.

Q: What is the song used in the 2009 ford escape commercisal?
The commercial shows factory workers working on a ford escape, then some of them talk about their job. Also, it was used in the xplay season premiere commercial, and the E3 2008 commercials on the G4 commercial. I’ve been looking for theis sing for a while now, and I would really like to know what it is called.

A: If i recollect, it was a Gay supportive song. I think it was either California’s state anthem or Michael Jackson’s hit song. Either way, all three of them have gay in common.

Q: What type of automatic transmission fluid is used for a 2003 Ford Escape and how often should it be changed?
What type of automatic transmission fluid is used for a 2003 Ford Escape and how often should it be changed?
***2002*** Ford Escape

A: This seems like your other question.
The transmission fluid is ATF fluid.
Any fluid about a dexron mercon III is fine for that car.
You can buy multi purpose fluid ATF as well which would be fine.
But, you want to know specifically what kind your car wants?
Pull, the transmission dipstick out and and read on the stick, it well tell you exactly what fluid it takes.

Q: Can a 96 ford explorer wheel rims be used on a 2008 ford escape?
I have a set of 235/75r15 tires and aloy rims from a 96 Ford Explorer sport. can these rims be used on a new 2008 Escape. I would like to use them for winter tires so I just change rims rather than have to get the tires changed each season.

A: No,define’ly not.I’d better suggest you get the tires changed each season, although that maybe hectic.

Q: 2005 ford escape fuel mileage being used to fast but no leaks or engine light on please help?
i have a 2005 ford escape that is using way to much fuel does not have a leak or the engine light is not on but cannot find out what the problem is and the system checks says everything is okay please help

A: What is the mileage you are getting??? Sometimes the fuel you use will affect it as well, ethanol wll lower it as well

Q: Should I buy new or used? Ford escape hybrid.?
They seem to be hard to find and are priced on the high end for the new ones because they are in demand. The used ones are cheaper but usually have around 40 to 50 K. I don’t mind something used if it was taken care of but the next question on my mind is repair and maint.

Should I buy new to have the full warranty coverage or should I buy used and not worry because they are built well?

I looking to get feedback from escape hybrid owners. But if you got knowledge I’m listening. Thanks.

I’m buying to save money in the long run. I drive about 200 miles a day. I’m not totally green but it doesn’t hurt to your part also.

A: It is harder to find a pre-owned Hybrid Escape than it is to find a new one…. & even the new ones are hard to find!

Most of the time I would advise people to buy something “slightly used” to save a bunch of $$$.
However in this case even the used Hybrid Escapes that you might be lucky enough to come across are holding their value pretty well & are not a huge savings.

As for the reliability & durability, They have proven to be remarkable.
See:(old article so I’m sure that these 18 vehicles have MANY More miles on them now)
http://www.autoblog.com/2007/04/04/ford-escape-hybrid-taxis-demonstrate-durability-on-new-york-stre/
I have heard that NY city cabbies can REALLY abuse a vehicle … These have survived the abuse!

For those reasons I would recommend a New one.
Besides, the New ones have actually come down in MSRP since their release in 2005.
The sticker price is actually only about $4000 more than a comparably equipped & *powered non-Hybrid Escape.
http://www.fordvehicles.com/suvs/escapehybrid/compare/details/?vehicles=21514|21501|21516|21504
$4000 equates to about $80 a month on a 60 month loan & you will save OVER $80 a month on fuel costs!
My experience with the Hybrid Escape ….. I DOUBLED my Miles per gallon!
If you are driving 200 miles a day…. you will appreciate THAT. LOL~!

*I say “comparably powered” (in my comparison statement above) because the combined power of the hybrid-system is equal to the power of the V6.

The warranty on all the Hybrid componants is 8 years/100,000 miles so you don’t have to worry about working on them yourself. Nor will you encounter hefty repair bills.
Most Ford dealerships are certified to work on them & have no problems servicing them.

Besides all of the above reasons that I have stated, The Federal Tax incentive ($3000- for the FWD & $2200-for the 4X4) are only available to the FIRST owner.

There is one national lender (bank) that is currently offering low finance rates & a $1000 visa gift card to Hybrid Escape buyers.( I think that I cannot mention the lenders name because that might be considered ’spam’ here, but it is not FMCC… but many Ford dealers know about it)

There are also some state & local incentives available.

Doing your part to be “green” is actually quite a pleasure in a Ford Hybrid Escape!

Q: I am looking at buying a used 2003 Ford Escape. Any comments?
I was wondering if anyone could provide me some feedback on the Ford Escape. I have never driven one. The model I am looking at getting is 2WD, an ‘03 and 45 000 km on it. I live in Canada, and will need to have a good winter vehicle. The one that I am looking at is going for $10K, which I think is a really decent price. I have done some homework and see that this model and year is about $4k more going through a dealer. How could I tell if it may of been in a accident? I am not very car smart, and would appreciate your advice. Thanks in advance.

A: The Ford Escape is a great car. It seems that the one you are looking at is a good deal. I have worked sold Escapes and can tell you that not only are they popular but they are very reliable. As far as doing your homework make sure to check prices before buying. You may want to consider the 4WD model if you are concerned about the winters in Canada. Also, I would agree with others on here and tell you to ask for or obtain on your own a carfax report on any used vehicle that you buy. Another thing to keep in mind is that on newer models Ford offers a hybrid version. Another thing to research if you like a little more of a luxury feel is the Mercury Mariner it is the same basic car with a slightly different exterior and a more luxurious interior. Visit the sites I have listed here for more info. Also pay no attention to Mr. Personal Experiance above me here he can’t even spell Hyundai properly. Take it from an expert on cars that this is a great car.

Q: I want a Ford Escape, a used one?
What is the mpg on it? How much should I pay for an Escape with 30k miles on it, but not more than 50k on it? Thanks in advance.

A: My girlfriend’s parents just bought a new one for 20,999. It gets on average about 28 mpg…..better gas mileage than my Ford Escort =(

Q: ford escape used one?
im looking for a good first car. i like the ford, i would get a used one not a nwe. i was wandering though if the insurance was high??
if not this car , what other small suv would be good. by the way, im a girl so pick something cute..thnkss

A: Well since this is your first car I would just start off with something small because you have to think about gas, insurance, repair etc.

Q: How long should I expect a 2001 Ford Escape V6 to last me?
I am thinking about buying a used 2001 Ford Escape that has 150,000 miles on it. The body is great, interior is great, brand new tires, it is basically flawless. The engine is a V6 3.0L FI DOHC and runs great. Everything works. I was wondering how many miles I can expect to get out of this car, and what I should do to make sure that I can get the most miles out of this engine.

Thanks a ton,

Chase

A: It all depends on YOU. If YOU keep the car maintained and drive it responsibly then it can out last you yourself. If your not going to keep the oils changed and keep things lubed and greased and clean and up to date, and if your going to drive it like crazy then it wont last. Buy the HAYNES manual to that car and it will tell you when and what to check and when to replace everything. Keep a record for yourself so you know when and what servicing is coming up next. Good luck.

Q: Honda CR-V Diesel Coming in Late 2009 | Upcoming Cars India?
With the current diesel engines being quick, silent and efficient; they are giving the petrol engines a run for their money. After manufacturing only petrol engines for decades, Honda has produced its first diesel engine to boost its sales. Honda Siel will use this engine in its CR-V to boost its sales and compete in the current Indian market. Source Link :- http://ready2beat.com/internet/shopping/honda-cr-v-diesel-car-coming-soon-india

A: yes diesel is being more and more popular despite rises at pumps.

Q: what is the real price that dealers pay for a 2008 honda cr-v?
i know that msrp is about 24,900 and invoice(sticker price) is approx.23,002 i checked that on kelleys blue book but what is the real price they pay before putting this car on sale?

A: Markup on new cars is generally 5-8 %. Higher end/specialty a bit more. Beat em down! Just remember if trade is involved, you will be getting ACV ( actual cash value ) for yours. KBB is inflated no matter what you are looking at. If your trade is worth 8-10 ( 8 would be a car needing fixing up for the lot) they can probably buy from Manheim’s auction for 6k. They are not going to put 8k into a car that can be bought from dealers auction at 6k unless they need to put a deal together.
Good Luck.

Q: Question about buying a new Honda CR-V from a Honda Dealer. Help.?
My wife and I just purchased a brand new 07 Honda CR-V. We sat down with the sales person and worked out a deal. We have fair credit and were just dismissed from chapter 13 bankruptcy, so we kind of expected a high interest rate which turned out to be 9.99%. The estimate showed our payments were to be around $350 a month for 5 years if we did a $4000 down payment and we were happy with that. Then the pressure came on when we sat down with the Finance guy. We had the standard 5yr/60k warranty, but he talked us into the 8yr/80K warranty and something else called GAP coverage which covers you if you ever get upside down on the vehicle. This bumped our payments up to a little over $400 a month and put us stretching our budget a little more than we wanted to. Did we get taken to cleaners or is this deal feasible? If so can we just purchase the vehicle and go with the standard warranty without getting all the extra stuff? Please help us if you can and thank you for your time

A: Gap insurance is used on a purchase or a lease and I highly recommend it.If your new car were to get stolen or wrecked your insurance company would pay book value for it. The problem is that once you bought it book value is based on a used car. Typically a customer owes more on a car than its worth for the 1st 2 years. With a higher interest rate less of your payment goes to prinicple so this time period is longer. Gap insurance would pay the difference between what you owe and what your insurance pays { it also covers your deductible}. This way you don’t end up with a car payment and no car. I would pass on the extended warranty. It’s costly and CRV’s are very reliable and inexpensive to fix.

Q: How is the 1998 Honda CR-V LX?Does anyone own one? do you like the car?
I found a 1998 honda crv on sale for $5995.it has 94,491 miles on it.I just wanted to know if they were good reliable cars..I heard hondas were good quality cars so I was thinking it should be a good enough investment

A: First gen CR-V is no good. The engine had valve gap tightening problem. I would go with 2nd generation CR-V (2002 or later) just to be in a safe side. I guess it is ok as long as you have the valve adjustment every 60K or so. If you don’t, then one day, your valve will hit the piston and entire cylinder head will crack (cylinder head replacement runs around $2000)

Q: i am planning to buy a honda cr-v 2000? help!?
Hi- I am buying my own car before summer ends and i found a honda cr-v 2000 ex with 50,000 miles on it for sale by dealer. I have a honda-civic 2000 and i am planning to trade it in. This is my first time buying a car does anyone have any suggestion, opinions and advice. How much would an estimate monthly payment be on a 10,000 dollar car- my civic will probably be downpayment of 5,500. My credit- I have a college loan that I am paying off slowly so I don’t know what that looks like. He said it will 8% interest rate if i have good credit. Also anyone know of any good insurance companies for cars in northeast region. I am a bit scared because I make 2000 a month- my rent is 675+60 cell ph+ 100 food+estimating at least 200 or more for gas for the cr-v+ car payment. anyone ever done it.

A: Good choices on the Honda but on 2000k a month why not get on older model and no have payments. 8% is BS I’ll bet you get closer to 10% I’d trade that civic for 5k for something around 6-8k and wait until you school loan is paid off. Good feeling to drive a car with no payment.

I second the progressive ins suggestion they are decent….but stay far away from american with poor quality control….They pay little $$$ to have them assem in other countries and then rape you with price tag and repairs.

Q: Will a 2006 HONDA CR-V CRV AM/FM CASETTE CD 6-DISC CHANGER fit and work in a 2003 Honda CR-V?
Please…all you mechanics out there! Can some one please help me? My Cd player in my honda crv 03 just stopped working, and I saw one for sale pretty cheap, it looks exactly like mine, but it is out of a Honda Cr-V 06….please let me know what you think! Thank you so much!

A: With mp3 cds 6-disc changers are obsolete.
Check on link to fitment guide;

http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Products/CarAudioVideo/FitGuide

Q: Help finding a CR-V, please!?
I’m very particular about the car I’m looking for, and I can’t seem to find it anywhere. I’m looking for a white Honda CR-V with a tan/brown interior. I’d like one with less than 90,000 miles on it and no older than an ‘02. My maximum price is $11,000.

I know that’s really picky, but if anyone can find a listing like this, please let me know!

Also, are there any websites with a bunch of listings for cars that are for sale by owner?

Thanks!

A: You didn’t say where you were located.

Here is one in NJ:

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ct=u&car_id=279122693&dealer_id=102665&car_year=2002&rdm=1273846433512&lastStartYear=1981&model=CRV&num_records=25&systime=&make2=&highlightFirstMakeModel=&start_year=2002&keywordsfyc=&keywordsrep=&engine=&certified=&body_code=0&fuel=&awsp=false&search_type=both&distance=75&marketZipError=false&search_lang=en&sownerid=48743056&showZipError=n&make=HONDA&keywords_display=&color=&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&min_price=&drive=&default_sort=priceDESC&seller_type=b&max_mileage=&style_flag=1&sort_type=priceDESC&address=10001&advanced=&end_year=2008&doors=&transmission=&max_price=11000&cardist=49&standard=false

Q: Starting over….HONDA CR-V?
Ok, let me try to rephrase the question….
I have a grand am, that the dealership says has negative equity value, meaning, I owe more on that car, than what they think it’s worth…..

So, I went to a dealership to trade in my car, with 0 down payment and a co-signer….
The sales rep stated, the less expensive car I choose, the MORE my downpayment will be, so the last car I looked into, was a 2008 HONDA CR-V, 10k miles at about $23,000. The sales rep responded saying, I got approved, but my monthly payments would be right at $600 a month.
So does that seem too much to pay for that type of vehicle?

Hope that made more sense…….

A: the basic math to determine if this is a good proposition for you is
to subtract the ‘negative equity’ from the $23,000 to find out the selling price of the CRV. then you can determine if you are getting a good deal on the used car.

to determine the negative equity, look at the payoff value on your loan–that should be on your monthly statement or you can call your lender and ask what the payoff is.

to determine the value of your grand am, go to http://www.kbb.com and put in the information on the grand am into the used car value appraisal calculator. follow the steps to add the mileage, options and condition and then use the trade-in value as your guide. You didn’t give the year of your car, but for example I used a 2003 Grand Am SE 4door with 80000 in good condition and the trade in value is $3000. If you owe $4000 on the car then your negative equity would be $1000 ($4000-$3000)

then look up the value for the CRV–for a 2008 2 wheel drive in excellent condition the value is $22, 310. Add the negative equity and the total would be a financed amount of 23,310. so if these numbers are close then you are getting a ‘fair’ deal. the reason its fair is that the dealer is not discounting the CRV, you’re paying full retail for the used car. if you’re negtive equity is over $1000 then the CRV is being discounted by any amount over the $1000 and you’re geting a better deal.

As for the $600 per month, it depends on what the interest rate is and how many months the loan is for. at 6.5% (typical for a used car loan) for a 48 month loan with 0 down you are right at the $600 payment and that’s a fair deal. if you can get a lower interest rate the monthly payment will be less. If the payment term is for longer than 48 months its a very bad deal and you should walk away.

hope that helps

Q: Are there any advantages of the Honda Fit over the Honda CR-V , or visa versa ?
My very first car was the first Honda Civic, and I loved it. I am a musician , so I need a hatchback to carry around my guitar, harmonium , amplifier, etc…..I drvie to and from Montreal every week, an hours drive to Rawdon, so I need something that is econimical on gas. Ive spoken to many mechanics and it seems that two of the best hatchback cars on the market , for economy , quality, ease of repair, is the Toyota and Honda. V W Golf, Subaru and Mazda were also mentioned to me, but out here in the country there are few V W mechanics and I have heard that Mazda parts are very expensive. Subarus dont seem to be as commen, at least not so many for sale under $ !0,000 out here, which is my budget. A localdealer is selling a Honda Fit 2007 Manual transmission, for $ 10, 845. When I told the rep that I only had $ 10,000 to spend , he said that probably his boss would drop it down to that price for me. I need to kknow if I should go with the Honda Civic or if the Fit is better or an improvement over the Civic hatchback, or if there is anything I am overlooking or not aware of.

A: Well in terms of comparison the Fit is considerably more like your old Civic. The CR-V can feel a bit more “floaty” especially in strong winds. The Fit sits lower to the ground and, in my opinion, a more enjoyable ride overall. The CR-V, while not a bad vehicle, is a bit larger and doesn’t make up for it with weight or power (granted the new ones are a bit nicer than the previous models).

The Fit is Go!

Q: 2008 Toyota Rav-4, 2008 Honda CR-V, 2008 Nissan Rogue or 2009 Subara Forester?
With another child on the way (for a total of 2), we are looking to step up from a 2004 Matrix to probably a Rav-4, CR-V, Rogue or Forester. I drove the CR-V, and it was ok (good driver visibility and somewhat quieter than the Matrix, but not hard to do that). And I still have to drive the Forester, the Rogue and the Rav-4.

Our primary concerns are safety and storage space (kids need lots of stuff to travel), and for me, good handling with good driver visibility. Consumer Reports said that getting child seats into a CR-V was difficult, but from what I saw, it looks easier than the Rav-4, where I could not even feel the child seat anchors. The Toyota sales rep did not have a clue on how to install the child seats on the Rav-4.

Any Rav-4, CR-V, Rogue or Forester owners out there with young kids with opinions good or bad about these vehicles? Any and all input is welcome. They seem fairly evenly matched and MSRP’s are all within $2,000.00 of each other.

Thanks for your input.

A: Consider a Mercury Mariner-one of the nicest small SUV’s around. PLus keep your hard earned $$$ from going to Japan!

Q: Which is the best family car for sale in India?
I am looking for a spacious, comfortable, and reliable car. Within a budget of 25 lakhs. Which is better The toyota Innova or The newly released model Toyota Fortuner. In terms of fuel efficiency as well.
I really like the Honda CR-V as well but the only problem is its a five seater , does Honda have any plans to introduce a 7 seater. Are there any other good family cars?? Does Audi have any 7 seaters??

A: IF you are NOT the status conscious guy, and if you are looking for a good family car, go for the Innova. It’s a great spacious vehicle, comfortable, and mile-muncher too. And its good in terms of fuel efficiency as well. Cost of ownership is not too heavy on the wallet either.
To top it all – its a TOYOTA.

Q: Can I get my deposit back on a deal that went south?
Sales assoc. told me to give $500 deposit & they would get a certain car for me. They didn’t have the car I wanted on the lot so they were to dealer trade one. I was told that their were plenty of the the type of car I wanted. I waited 4 days and was told that they were having trouble locating the Honda Cr-V EX that I wanted, but would I settle for an EX-L or LX model. I told them no and that I wanted my deposit back. I was told before I gave them my credit card # that it was a refundable deposit. I seem to be getting the run around. After I told them I wanted my deposit back, they tried to get me to give them until noon the next day to try to find something. I said No, I just wanted my deposit back. I said I wanted confirmation that my credit card had been refunded sent by fax. The sales assoc. said OK and give him a few minutes and he would call before he sent it. I waited for 2 hours. Then they told me the lady who knows how to refund my credit card had already went home.

A: This is very simple. They cannot keep your money. If you don’t have a contract, then they have no right to hold on to your funds. If you do have a contract, then they have to follow through with the type of car that you agreed on or they have to give you a refund.

In reality, this is not about the $500. This is about them not wanted you to go to another dealership. They figure that as long as they have your money, they have eliminated that possibility. They figure it’s a waiting game and after a while you will want a car so badly that you will take one you didn’t originally want.

I would call your credit card company and tell them not to pay the $500. If you dispute the charge, the dealership cannot invoice the credit card company for the $500 and you are all good.

Q: Is it safe to buy an Isuzu?
A 2004 Isuzu Rodeo “S” is for sale with only 53k miles. (for about $9,000)
Has anyone ever had major problems with this
generation Rodeos?
Do they last long?

Or should I just go with a 01 Honda CR-V “SE” with 80k miles on it,
for about the same price..

Although the bank will probably give me a shorter loan like 36-48 months for the CR-V
(because its an 01′)
as for the Rodeo, they can give me about 60… I’m just sayin! haha

A: buy an Isuzu?
A 2004 Isuzu Rodeo “S” OH! yea good vehicles made some parts r made different japanese companies
overall Honda is the same

Q: Talk someone out of buying a new Hyundai?
My dad wants to buy a new 2009 Hyundai Tucson because of their special gas promotion ($1.49/gal for a year) which will save him $800 in gas. Plus the Tucson is on sale for $10,000 after Cash 4 Clunker…. he will also trade in a 7 year old Camry which brings the price down to $5000.

So should he trade it in for an inferior Hyundai or pay $5k more and get the Honda CR-V?
To clarify he is trading in two vehicles. First an old truck with body damage maybe worth $500. And the Camry with check engine light that wont go out even after $2000 in repairs by 5 Toyota dealerships. Goes out only by unplugging battery but lights up again after 1000 miles.

A: First of all, it’s amazing to me that some people still don’t know the difference between North and South Korea.

Secondly, I think your dad is getting a great deal on a pretty good little truck and I think he’s tired of wasting money on a car that seems to be more of a headache then not. Why would he keep an unrepairable 7 year car after he’s spent $2000 on it?
Come it think of it, I never had to take my 8 year old Hyundai with 150,000 miles on it to the dealer for anything but light maintenance. Plus, I know others with similar experiences with their Hyundai’s. You may want to rethink your perception of the brand.

To be honest the CR-V isn’t that great for the money Honda wants for it.

Q: 2007 – Mitsu Outlander XLS – reliable or look somewhere else?
Looking at getting a smaller SUV for my wife and 2 kids (3 & 6) so I need to fit a car & booster seat in the rear.

I am looking for an all round SUV for skiing, travelling, some off-roading (logging roads), pulling a fishing boat.
I am looking at Honda CR-V, Toyota Rav 4, Hyundai Santa Fe, Mistubishi Outlander & 07 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 4 door.

I am looking for safety, fuel economy, reliablitity, comfort, good fun factor & capable for some off-road activities (not hardcore) have a ATV for that!. I need room for the kids and luggage for travelling.

I like the looks of the Mitsubishi XLS, price & warranty

Questions: what is the reliablity for the SUV’s, servicing at a dealership, ride quality on highway & long term re-sale?

A: I am going through the same search right now! Consumer Reports actually recommends the Outlander, and says that reliablility in its first year in the US has been ‘outstanding’. However, they also say that the ride is quite firm and that the interior fit and finish is just OK. You should check out what they have to say on the Outlander, plus the other cars you mention.

After manufacturing only petrol engines for decades, Honda has produced its first diesel engine to boost its sales. Honda Siel will use this engine in its CR-V to boost its sales and compete in the current Indian market.
Q: How much can I haggle a Honda 2010 CR-V EX-L with Navi that is listed at $29,665?
Trying to help my girlfriend buy a car without her being taken advantage of. If you need more details please let me know. Thanks!

A: The best way to determine your negotiating room would be to avail yourself of the services of edmunds.com or one of the many other automotive-related web sites that allows you to specify an exact vehicle and option combination and provides comprehensive pricing data that includes dealer costs and negotiate accordingly.

An even-easier solution is to use a similar site like truecar.com that not only shows you the pricing data but also shows actual purchase price data based upon the most recent purchases in a particular locality, region, or nationwide. It also provides statistical analysis to indicate what a “fair”, “good”, or “great” price would happen to be.

Of course, she’d be far better-off considering a Ford Escape, but that’s another matter entirely.

Best of luck. I hope this helps.

Q: Difference between 2009 and 2010 Honda CR-V?
Does anyone know if there will be a difference between the 2009 and the 2010 Honda CR-V models? I’m looking into buying one and I’m just curious if they are going to change anything. Thanks in advance!

A: I was wondering the same question and found this:

2010 HONDA CR-V BUYING ADVICE

    * Should you buy a 2009 Honda CR-V or wait for the 2010 Honda CR-V? Honda’s decision not to offer the 2010 CR-V with a diesel engine kills the main reason you might have waited for the 2010 model. That means the 2010 Honda CR-V won’t be substantively different from the 2009, though Honda could treat the 2010 model to minor styling changes. Those would be designed to keep its appearance fresh until the next-generation CR-V launches.

2010 HONDA CR-V CHANGES

    * Styling: Odds are pretty good for a new grille and revisions to the taillamps, plus tweaks to some shapes and textures in the cabin. This would come under the heading of a mid-cycle freshening because the current-generation CR-V bowed for model-year 2007, and the next-generation is due to launch for model-year 2012 or 2013. Honda won’t consider altering the CR-V’s size until then. Nor will it expand seating capacity to more than five. Today’s CR-V is actually one of the smaller crossovers in the compact-SUV class. But smart design gives it generous interior space for people and packages. Honda’s styling philosophy is egalitarian, so close inspection is required to identify CR-V’s three trim levels. Just over half of CR-V buyers choose the midline EX version, which is visually distinguished from the base LX model by alloy wheels instead of wheel covers and by darkened side glass on the rear windows. To identify the top-of-the-line EX-L, look inside. It has leather upholstery; that’s what “L” stands for. An impressive 25 percent of CR-V buyers go for it all and pick the EX-L.

    * Mechanical: All three CR-V trim levels are available with a choice of front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The AWD system senses front-wheel slip and feeds power to the rear wheels until traction is restored. It’s not designed for serious off-roading, and neither is the CR-V. True, it has a fairly substantial 7.3 inches of ground clearance, but its AWD system lacks both low-range gearing and the capability to lock in a 50-50 front-rear torque split. The CR-V’s only engine is a 166-horsepower 2.4-liter four-cylinder. Sole transmission is a five-speed automatic. Every CR-V has four-wheel disc brakes with antilock control to combat brake lock-up in emergencies. Each also gets brake-assist to automatically apply maximum stopping power even if the driver fails to fully depress the brake pedal. Standard as well is an antiskid system that can modulate engine power and apply individual brakes to control sideways skids. Often called stability control, an antiskid system is a particularly important feature in SUVs and other vehicles with a relatively high center of gravity. It counteracts slides that can lead to rollovers, a primary cause of death in accidents involving SUVs. All CR-Vs have 17-inch wheels and tires.

    * Features: No major additions are expected for the 2010 CR-V. Honda could, however, enhance equipment levels to include such items as outside mirrors with integrated turn-signal lamps. More pressing would be to update the CR-V’s audio and cell-phone interface by adding USB and Bluetooth connectivity. This would require expanding the equipment level of a specific CR-V model. In Honda tradition, CR-V offers no stand-alone options. Instead, it ladles on standard equipment as you ascend the model line. Honda dealers are happy to fill most of the vacuum left by the factory by installing a long list of manufacturer-approved extras, from wood interior trim to remote engine start.

Q: What is the invoice price for a 2010 HONDA CR-V EX-L model? (2wd, not 4wd)?
I got the quote from Consumer Reports last year for the 2009, but my subscription has run out. I just want to see how much it went up from 2009 to 2010. If anyone has the ACTUAL CONSUMER REPORTS quote on the invoice, that would be great. Thanks

A: $24,646 + $710 destination charge for the EX-L FWD without Navi.

There are many other sources for this info besides CR.

Q: 2010 Honda CR-V Remote Door Lock?
I just bought a 2010 Honda CR-V EXL last week. I noticed today that the remote will not lock the doors (it has been working until now). However, the remote will unlock the doors. I can manually lock/unlock the doors with the key. When I try to lock the doors with the remote, the red light does blink. Has anyone had this happen? I was just wondering if maybe I had accidentally pushed a button that I shouldn’t have. Thought I would ask before I took it back to the dealer. Thanks!!

A: There must be a programming error. That is not the norm, so Honda will fix it for free.

Q: Cannot decide between 2010 Honda CR-V and Subaru Legacy…?
I recently test drove two 2010 Honda CR-V’s and wasn’t terribly impressed, and I thought that there was a lot of “play” with the steering wheel at slower speeds. I’ve heard that Subaru has a much better AWD than the Honda system, which is another reason why I’m looking into Subaru. (don’t like Forester) Although people do seem pleased with their Honda and it will most likely have a higher resale value. Does anyone have experience with either of these makes/models? Thanks!

A: Honda sells a lot more cars than Subaru, but the Honda is for anyone/everyone and the Subaru is not. It’s more for the people that need or want a more versatile ride than you can get with Honda.

I bought my daughter here first car, a Honda, and she drove it for years, but she doesn’t drive the road, she drives the traffic.

The value you will have from either car will be determined by the way you drive and the capabilities you expect from your vehicle.

For prospecting in New Mexico I would want the Subaru, for driving around town in any weather, the Honda should do just fine.

Good Luck!

Q: 2010 Honda CR-V or 2010 Mazda CX-7?
Currently, I own a 2001 Honda CR-V and it is starting to die on me (Did not take good care of it). But now I learned my lesson and need/want a new car. I love my Hondas but is it time to make the switch to Mazda? I hear great things about Mazdas. In my opinion, Mazdas are better looking than Hondas. But not sure on the reliability or cost to maintain.

So here are my questions:
1.What one do you think I should buy?

2. Is the reliability of a Mazda the same or better than Honda?

3. Generally, is it relativity cheap to maintain Mazdas (Unlike European cars)

4. Hows the re-sell value on a Mazda?

5. Even if I’m going to test drive both, hows the comfort in the CX-7/CR-V?

Thanks, this will give me some mental notes that might be useful.

A: Essentially, the Honda is going to rate higher than the Mazda in each of these categories. I’m not saying that the CX-7 is a poor automobile, its just that the CR-V is an exceptional automobile. Drive each, get a price on each, and then decide.

Edmunds.com is a good site for doing some research.

Q: What is the price for 2010 Honda CR-V and what is the price for a 2009 Honda Accord? Thank you.?

A: 2010 Honda CR-V

http://autos.yahoo.com/2010_honda_accord_coupe/

Q: Does the 2010 Honda CR-V have a rear back-up camera?

A: Its an option only on the EX-L trim level.

Q: does the 2010 honda cr-v have a timing belt or a timing chain?

A: 1997-2001 – 1st Gen – B series engine with timing belt
2002-2006 – 2nd Gen – K series engine with timing chain
2007+ – 3rd Gen – K series engine with timing chain

Q: Honda CR-V 2010 or Nissan X- Trail 2010, which car is better?
I’m planning to buy an SUV soon, not sure which one is better?

any idea??

thanks!

A: I would go with the CRV any day if i am looking for reliability. I fyou are only considering the looks … then the Nissan X- Trail 2010 is much better. Here are some reasons why honda CRV is better choice :
1. its got the bets gas millage over any other suv out there.
2. Nissan X- Trail 2010 is a new USv in the market and there might be a lot of problems that you will have to find out as you drive – so no recalls will be there unless enough ppl complains.
3. CVR have been there for a while and market has a good reputations
4. If well maintained it hold more resell value.
5. ITS A HONDA !!!
6. You have more ppl looking to buy used Honda then used Nissan ..
7. There is no reviews on the net abt the Nissan X- Trail 2010
8. No know frequent electrical problems with Honda … Nissan have known electrical problems
9. Transmission problem common but not before 100K miles and if only abused!!
10. parts are lot cheaper !! ..nissans are very expensive for parts !!

Q: 2010 Honda CR-V commercial, whats that song called?
The commercial is a newer one. It has a dog in it and i think people are at the beach, the music is upbeat. Its always has been on NBC a lot recently.

A: “Honey Tree” by The Mostar Diving Club for this ad

video of the song,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=32iQNYzw-J8

Q: How to fold the Honda CR-V outside side mirrors to fit in garage?
2010 Honda CR-V LX

A: Put your hand on the back of the mirror and push it towards the car/window.

Q: 2010 Honda CR-V????????????
What is the difference between the EX and EX-L (both AWD w/no navigational system)?

A: EX-L includes heated leather seats and maybe for the rims they may include Alloy Wheels which is very very good for the vehicle.

Q: Does a Honda CR-V EX-L 2010 come in a Black Exterior and Tan Interior with Black carpet?

A: No. If you get tan leather, you get tan carpet, and vice versa with the black.

Q: 2010 Subaru Forester or Honda CR-V?
I am looking at buying a new compact SUV, and can’t decide between the Forester or CR-V. I would be using it for everyday city/hwy driving. I live in Wisconsin, so I would be driving in the snow and rain. How reliable are Foresters vs. CR-Vs in terms of how long they last and how often they need repairs. Through my research it looks like the CR-V has a better interior than the Forester. Are there any major interior features that the CR-V has over the Forester?
I should also point out that I was looking at the Subaru Forester Premium and the CR-V EX

A: I always go for the highest quality product, unless there are needs or circumstances that prevent it.

The 2010 Auto Reliability GPAs of the two SUVs that you listed and the 4-cylinder Toyota RAV4 are:

The 4-cylinder Toyota RAV4: 3.88 over a 10-year data history
The Honda CR-V: 3.63 over a 10-year data history
The non-turbo Subaru Forester: 3.13 over a 10-year data history.

For comparison, here are overall 2010 Auto Reliability GPAs for several brands, in descending order:

Honda: 3.67 (an A)
Toyota: 3.53 (a low A)
Subaru: 2.61 (a low B)
Hyundai: 2.54 (a low B)
Mazda: 2.28 (a C)
Ford: 2.17 (a C)
Volkswagen: 1.58 (a low C)
Chevrolet: 1.37 (a D)
GMC: 1.25 (a D)
Jeep: 1.08 (a D)
Dodge: 0.97 (a D).

So, based on Auto Reliability GPAs alone, my first choice would be the 4-cylinder RAV4, my second – the CR-V, and my third – the Forester.

In addition, the non-turbo Forester has Consumer Reports’ Much-Worse-Than-Average reliability ratings in the following categories and for the corresponding ages:

Engine Major – 7 years, 8 years, 9 years, and 10 years
Drive System – 9 years and 10 years
Fuel System – 10 years
and a couple other less significant categories.

By contrast, the Honda CR-V has two Much-Worse-Than-Average reliability ratings that appear to be model year related rather than age related, and the Toyota RAV4 has no Much-Worse-Than-Average reliability rating.

Q: Buying new Honda CR-V. Dealer found a scratch on the windshield, So he is replacing it. Can I still buy it ?
I have gone to Honda dealer and ordered a new Honda CR_V by putting 500$ deposit. On the day of the delivery, dealer found a scratch on the windshield and said he will replace it with a new one. Lot of places I read the if the windshield is not properly installed, it will cause some problems.
Should I still take the car from this dealer after the windshield replacement ?

A: it is a new vehicle and is covered under waranty. to satisfy your concern though, find out what company is installing the new windshield and you can check with the better business bureau, consumer affairs and see if the company has had many complaints about their work.

If you still feel at unease, ask the dealer to switch to a different CRV.

Q: What can I get a new Honda CR-V for?
I’m looking to buy a new Honda CR-V (automatic & 4×4) and was wondering if anyone had any insight on what price I can really get one for. The cheapest I’ve seen is about $22k and I’m hoping something around $18k is possible.
Thanks!

A: You can get $18K if you had a clunker to trade-in.

Otherwise, I see $21.4k at http://www.carsdirect.com.

Q: What is the advantage of buying the “body side molding” on a new honda cr-v?
I don’t know what it is. Is it worth purchasing from the honda dealer? What are other alternatives?

A: It’s worth getting it from the honda dealer . What’s it’s purpose ? So when you park your new car in a parking lot and some jerk opens his door and slams your car you only scratch or dent the protective bodyside moulding and not dent and scratch you new cars doors.

Q: Is a credit score of 630 destined to be at a high APR rate of 11% on a New Honda (2008) CR-V EX??
I went to the dealership yesterday looking into purchasing a HOnda CR-V EX model. After checking my credit score i was told my finance rate would be 11%! i never owned a vehicle before and i am a first time buyer but does this sound reasonable or should i try another credit union or bank for myself!???????

A: Auto finance is what I do for a living and with a 630 score on top of being a first time buyer, in my opinion your lucky to get 11%.

Q: Which bluetooth car kit is recommendable for a brand new Honda CR-V 2008? No factory…?
…installed bluetooth is available.
Which is the best and most recommendable bluetooth car kit (bluetooth technology 2.0 NOT 1.2) for a brand new Honda CR-V 2008 which has no factory installed settings. I want the music to stop and use the suv’s stereo, not the bluetooth stereo.

A: Motorola Car HF1000 Bluetooth Car Kit

Price: $207.99
7 used & new available from $207.99

http://www.amazon.com/Motorola-Car-HF1000-Bluetooth-Kit/dp/B0008IV508

This car kit is wonderful! We had it professionally installed and it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to get it up and running. I have it paired with both my phone and my husband’s and it recognizes which phone is in the car and announces “Phone two ready” as soon as the car is started. The sound quality on both ends is phenomenal. When my husband calls me, despite the fact we have a pretty loud Mini with a manual transmission, I can hear him as if he’s holding the phone to his ear in a library! I would highly recommend this product, especially for those people who find themselves juggling more than one task in the car at once.

Q: My parents want to give me their used Lexus RX350 or a new Honda CR-V.. which should I go with?
They bought the Lexus RX350 for $50,000 2 years ago and it’s loaded with leather, sunroof, HID, 18″ tires, Navigation…. but has 20k miles.

The CR-V will brand new but no frills base model priced at $22k.

So which is better?

A: the Lexus

Q: We recently bought the new 2007 Honda CR-V. I have an iPod and was wondering how to connect it to the car?
The car comes with a place to put your iPod and connect it to the stereo. What kind of cable do I need to conncect it?

A: Think your car comes with a Ipod input if that’s the case you can read the manual it should tell you what cable to use if not ask the dealer.Whatever you do do NOT use a fm transmitter that thing sucks just as much as that cassette thing that people say to use good luck

Q: Are there any new Honda Civic/CR-V owners?
Hello,

I’m going to get either a Honda Civic or a CR-V the next month. Both of the new designs has really grabbed my eyes. So if there are any new owners, can you please tell me something about your car?

Some of the things that I want to know are:

Civic vs. Corolla/CR-V vs. RAV-4. Which ones are better?

Do they trustful and have a good reputation economically?

Thank you so much!!!

A: I have a Honda Civic and LOVE it. It gets great gas mileage, is fast and handles well. Great car, very reliable. Hondas have one of the highest resale values of all cars.

I know a girl in DC who has a RAV-4 and said she would never buy one again, but that is just one person’s opinion. She thought it was uncomfortable mostly.

Check out the compare feature on this website: http://www.automotive.com/new-cars/compare/

Q: How much should I pay for a 2008 Honda CR-V LX?
I am thinking about purchasing a Honda CR-V, either the new 2008 model or the previous year. I just want the base model, LX. Invoice sticker on the 2008 says it is approximately $19,250. Should I bargain for this price or below? If you’ve purchased a new Honda CR-V, how much did you pay?

A: Edmunds.com is the best way to go. I paid 23,000 (all total, including tax and all that) for my 2007 CR-V LX, and I bargained the HELL out of the dealers (they even offered me a job after I signed the papers, but I declined). You’re not going to be able to bargain a whole lot because the CR-Vs are extremely easy to move, and if you don’t buy it they’ll have no problem finding someone else that will. But it’s a great car, and apart from a bit of road noise, I have had 0 problems with it, and there are tons of people out there who have had their CR-Vs last 200k+ miles. I know the new electronic stability control has saved my life several times already.

Q: does anyone know where i can find a towing hitch for the new ‘07 CR-V other than honda hitches?
I just recently upgraded my ‘05 CR-V to the new ‘07 CR-V and I found out that the old hitch I had does not fit the new model. I have only found a hitch from honda parts online and at the dealer for $350 and up. U-Haul usually sells the cheaper one for about 100 bucks. i just need one for a bike rack. please help.

A: I would be concerned about after market products for a new vehicle. Honda sometimes revokes warranties if something happens to the vehicle and it’s not an approved accessory. I would check with the dealership before buying something like that. At the very least read carefully your owner’s manual.

Q: Does my 2001 Honda CR-V need a new head unit for my sub and amp?
I’m going to buy a 12″ subwoofer and an amplifier. Do I need a new head unit for these items, because I don’t want to spend the money if I don’t have to. Thanks in advance!

A: A new HU would be great for your audio, but you don’t have to have one to install your amp. All you need to do is make sure the amp you buy has high level inputs and that it comes with the connecter to it. I bought an amp when I first started my car audio pursuit and I was still a noobie so when I went to hook up the amp to the stereo I found out that the stock stereo didn’t have RCA outputs and I was freaking out big time. Then I found out that all I had to do is get some speaker wire and connect that to the high level input connecter that came with the amp. What you have to do is simply connect the speaker wire to the terminals of both rear speakers ( the + and – ones) and just connect the other end of the speaker wire to the high level input connecter and then just plug it in to the amp and wola, you have the amp connected to the stereo. But I would defiantly buy at least a cheap HU just so all you have to do is run a RCA cable from the HU to amp and it’ll be very quick and convenient because it’ll give you way better sound quality as well as more power to the amp because of it’s add 2 volts and more watts to the door speakers. And again it is possible to connect your amp with just the stock HU.

Q: I am thinking about buying a new Honda CR-V……?
but am wondering about them…I am used to driving smaller, compact cars and I am super worried about rolling the CR-V. Also, was wondering about the up-keep on the CR-V. How do you all like yours? Would you buy another one? How well does it drive? Thanks for all your input

A: I wouldn’t worry too much about rolling a new CR-V. The new ones have stability control, which is huge in helping to avoid rollovers and other accidents (to the point where it may be mandatory for all cars, and Ford will be offering it in every vehicle in a few years). Of course you can still roll the things over, but it’s a lot harder, and they all have side curtain airbags, which makes them safer in rollovers and side collisions. Go ask for a test drive; Honda dealers usually aren’t too scary, and it’ll give you the best idea of how safe you think the car is, and how much you like the way it drives.

Q: I want to buy a Honda CR-V and want to switch my 18″ rims to it. Will they fit? What tires do I need?
I have 18″ chrome rims and want to move them to a new Honda Cr-V (2008). Can I do this and do I need certain tires?

A: they will fit me and a buddy put some 18’s on his just put some 205 30 18’s on it and it will ride

Q: Bought a ‘07 honda cr-v new, we put in 4k+ miles, at high rpm a/c is making whistling noice, is this normal?

A: If you here this sound under the hood it could be a bad belt or the bearing for the compressor needs lubricant/replacement any shop can fix either of these.Just caught the high rpm part of this question. So when your on the highway you have a whistling in the passenger cabin?? If so check to see if you are set to fresh air or recirculate. Sometimes the fresh air seal will cause a whistling easily fixed with a shot of WD/40

Q: What is an SUV similar to the Honda CR-V?
I’m looking to buy a Honda CR-V…I just really like that particular model, but I am trying to research different models and find something similar to the CR-V as well. What other makes and models would be something close?

A: Try Kia Sportage, Hyundai Tucson, Kia Soul, ford Escape, Toyota Rav4, Nissan X-Trail, Suzuki Grand Vitara. Hope this help!

Q: 2009 Honda CR-V suv?
Does anyone know if the 2009 models will have factory blue-tooth available?

A: i don’t know, that’s for sure.

Q: Is a 2008 Honda CR-V a good SUV/Crossover to buy?
I’m looking to buy a new car and have fallen in love with the new Honda CR-V’s…are these a good choice? I know I could do much better gas mileage wise, but it’s the best mpg I’ve seen on an suv. Is this the smart way to go? I’m really tall (6′0) and small cars like a sentra or corolla are just to little for me. Anybody that has owned a CR-V have any advice? Has anyone ever had trouble out of one, or would highly recommend? All help is appreciated!

(by the way, I’m looking at a 2wd, which has slightly better gas mileage)

A: The CR-V is the best car in its class. Behind it’s conservative styling, lays a strong engine, and amazing fit and finish and a great driving position.

If you are worried about Gas Mileage, perhaps you should look at the Saturn Vue Greenline. It goes for around $25,000 and you also get a tax deduction. Here’s a link to the site:

http://www.saturn.com/saturn/vehicles/vue08/overview.jsp

Good Luck

Q: With the current high gas prices, is this a good or bad time to sell a small SUV (an older Honda CR-V)?
I have a 1998 Honda CR-V that I’ve been thinking about selling for awhile, but I’m wondering if this is a good time or bad time to try to sell it. (In other words, how much I’m likely to receive compared to the “book” value, how long it will take to sell, etc.)

So, with gas prices near $4/gallon now, will it be harder to sell because it’s an SUV?

…Or easier, because it’s a small, 4-cylinder, “crossover” SUV that’s fuel-efficient relative to other SUVs? (It gets roughly 25 mpg.)

Thanks!

A: Honda vehicles keep their value. My advice depends on what you’re going to be using it for. If you don’t haul dirt, you don’t need a dump truck. Hence, if you don’t use the space your vehicle provides, buy something smaller that fits your needs.

Q: I am buying a Honda CR-V 2007 SUV any comments about this suv? also should I get it undercoated ?

A: this is a great new suv from honda as you can see honda has put a whole different view on the new crv. this suv is only avaliable with a 4cyl but i gave read in the reviews that the engine sometimes could be called a v6 because it is smooth and has good performance for a 4 cyl. honda uses this engine is a lot of their cars. the honda accord, honda element, honda crv, and acura tsx. Honda had a cool mom when they made this car no joke they really did but it is just a great car all around unless you are looking for a more powerful suv. tell me how you like it.

ps i dont know what you mean when you say undercoated.

Q: Which SUV is better in Price and Options? Honda CR-V, Toyota Highlander or Mitsubishi Outlander?
I am looking to buy a new SUV and can’t make up my mind between new CR-V, Hghlander adn Outlander. Any expert on SUVs?

A: If you’d like to do some price and options comparisons you can use the tool on carsdirect.com. I sometimes use their comparison function when I want to compare cars.

For more info, check out New Car Test Drive. They have pretty good reviews on cars and a large archive of older reviews of the cars if you’re going to buy used.

I’ve put some links below for you to check out. Hope that helps.

Q: Honda CR-V over other SUV’s?
Opinions on what you think of the 2007 CR-V. Thinking of getting one.

A: It’s a wonderful car. I personally think its better than the Rav4. It gets good fuel economy and has great styling.

Q: Is the jeep wrangler a good choice for a SUV?? whats better ( Hylander , Escape, Honda CR-V)?
if you have a better answer i would be interested in it

A: Wrangler has horrible gas mileage and has less reliability compared to the other ones you mentioned. It really depends on what your intended use is. If you are planning on doing a lot of off-roading, then I would say out of those, the Jeep would still be your best choice… this is what the Jeep was designed to do. If you don’t plan on doing off roading, then you are looking into the other choices that you mention. The others you mention are hard to compare…. primarily the Highlander is in the midsized suv market and the Escape and CR-V are in the small sized suv market (apples and oranges). If a midsized is what interests you, the most reliable historically have been the highlander or honda pilot. Hyundai Sante-fe has made great strides in the recent years, but I wouldn’t put that in the highlander/pilot league. For small sized suv, the escape, cr-v, toyota rav 4, and subaru forester are all pretty decent, it would depend on your styling choices, size needs, and desired uses)

Q: What is the BEST small SUV? Subaru Forester, Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V or Ford ESCAPE???
I need to get a new car to replace my old wagon (1994 Saturn) soon and looking for a reliable small SUV with good gas milleage.

I’m deciding between 4 Suvs : Subaru Forester with 115,000 mi., leather interior – $4,000, 1997 Toyota RAV 4 with 160,000 mi. – $4,200,1999 HONDA CRV LX 2WD with 126,000 mi and 2002 Ford Escape with 125,000 mi. (this car from a local dealer). I found the lists in craigslist los Angeles. I have 2 dogs, one small and one bigs so I need to consider about the cargo area as well?
Please help me with the pros and cons of these car. Thank you very much.
I forgot to mention “1998″ Subaru Forester.

A: The Subaru is the answer. I sell Subarus for a living but being you are in LA, my answer is unbiased. 95% of all Subies bought in the last 10 years are still on the road today. The average owner keeps their subie for min 7years. The boxer engine with the symmetrical all wheel drive is great in all situations dry, wet, or frozen. The repair costs are no higher than any of the three. But it does surpass the rest in safety. If you want more subie info email me at subiejaxman@yahoo.com. I also own one so I can talk.

Q: Which small SUV is the most comfortable for tall people? (Ford Escape, Honda CR-V, Toyota Rav4?)?
I’m a tall guy at around 6′5″ and I’m in the market for a small SUV as cars just aren’t comfortable enough for me. Even bigger cars including family sedans kill my back the way you have to slouch and sit so low and “crawl” down into them. Fellow giants will know what I’m talking about. Anyway, which small SUV has the most leg room?

I say small SUV because gas mileage is a huge concern for me. My options are the Ford Escape, Honda CR-V or Toyota Rav4. I’d really like to know which one is the most comfortable to drive on a daily basis and long trips. No hybrids please.

A: bad news is… is that you are going to have to go out and try them on for size for yourself my tall friend. vehicles are made for the average sized person and the smaller the vehicle… you got it… the less room to move. however… i have a large friend (tall & wide) who loves his ranger pickup believe it or not. he says it fits him comfortably. good luck big guy!

Q: Should I buy a 1998 HONDA CR-V with 130,000 miles, salvage title FOR $3,800?
I have decided to buy a small suv. Honda CR-V or Toyota RAV4 is my choice due to its Reliability and good gas mileage. I found ads from craiglists last week.

I know that if it is not a good idea to buy a car with salvage title but the price is right? Should I buy it?

I also found another ads: Toyota RAV4 with 153,000 for $4,000. Is this a good deal? Should I be concerned about the high miles?

Thank you in advance for your answer. ^0^

A: LOWER miles, maggie! you are looking at cars with high mileage. you’ll pay for it later.

Q: does the honda cr-v make a good first car for a 17 year old girl?
i have decided that i want an suv and i thought the honda cr-v was kinda cute so i was wondering if it made a good first car. and what other cars would you suggest for a first car?

A: Yes its a good first car for you. Its one of the best SUV in its class. Good styling both interior and exterior, good engine and high re sale value too. You can choose among the sub compact SUV in the market like Kia Sportage, Toyota Rav4, Hyundai Tucson, Ford Escape, Nissan X trail and Mitsubishi outlander. All of this sub compact SUV are good in its own way and are all reliable. Hope this help!

Q: what is a used fuel efficent reliable used suv besides rav and honda cr-v?
Hi i need to buy a car that is reliable and bigger too. I am going to be buying used and I cannot afford to buy a new car- my price range is up to 7000. I was looking at a 2000 explorer but many people told me it would be a gas guzzler and a problem. any ideas?
i have a german shepherd and 2 kids

A: “bigger”, SUV, and “fuel efficient” don’t go together. The only SUV’s that are reasonably fuel efficient are smaller ones with 4 cylinder engines.

it being reliable (or not) is always dicey when you’re talking about a car that’s going to be older, even Honda’s and Toyota’s will have problems if they weren’t properly cared for. If the 4 cylinder SUV’s are too small for you, you won’t be getting a fuel efficient vehicle.

Do you really need an SUV? Or would a car with AWD suffice? If so, consider a Subaru, the Legacy wagon is pretty roomy inside, and more efficient than almost any SUV.

good luck
