Q: Why should anybody buy a Chevrolet Traverse over a Buick Enclave?
The Buick Enclave is definitely one of the most elegant SUVs I have ever seen and plan to buy. Esthetically it has a lot more going for it than comparably sized German models (Audi Q7, BMW X5, Mercedes GL and VW Touareg) and Japanese makes (Lexus LX).

What sense does it make for GM to now introduce the Chevy Traverse. It looks like a bare-bones Enclave.

A: Price. Styling.

Not everyone can afford a Buick Enclave and not everyone appreciates all the chrome that comes on the Buick Enclave. The same goes for the GMC Acadia. For these people there is the Chevrolet Traverse. It’s GM’s interpretation of the minivan.

Buick Enclave competes with luxury Crossovers/SUVs like the ones you mentioned and it beats them. Chevrolet Traverse competes with regular crossovers/SUV’s like Honda Pilot, Toyota Highlander, Ford Flex, etc.

The two vehicles compete in two completely different market segments. If any vehicle doesn’t make sense I’d say it’s GMC Acadia, because it doesn’t fit the brand profile (Professional Grade) and it somewhat competes with Enclave (luxury crossover/suv) even more so with the new Denali trim.

Q: What SUV/Crossover should we get?
We are planning to trade in our 2003 Ford Explorer for a brand new SUV or Crossover. We’ve narrowed it down to a few options, but we need your help choosing.

Choices:

1. Dodge Journey
2. Dodge Durango
3. Kia Borrego
4. Kia Serrento
5. Chevrolet Traverse
6. GMC Acadia

Which do you think is the best? And please answer as quickly as you can… we plan to buy the vehicle tomorrow.

A: The traverse is pretty nice.

Q: What is the best SUV to join our fleet?
We are in the market for a second SUV and are considering either a Chevrolet or Toyota. We currently have a Chevrolet Tahoe that we are very happy with. I also have a Chevrolet Silverado that isn’t practical for use with the family. We would like another large SUV or possibly a Chevrolet Traverse (which is considered to be a crossover).
The new car will be used primarily as my commuter car but will double as a family vehicle. The reason why we need another one (which I know will come up) is due to the fact that we love our Tahoe so much that we are putting way too many miles on it too fast. As well as the fact that I often need to pick my children up from school when my wife is doing something else, and we have to plan far in advance so that I can take her car (the Tahoe).

A: KBB has a pretty cool tool called the perfect car finder, that you may find useful:

I personally drive a Lexus GX470 and it is awesome…good room for the family, but not overly huge. I have driven a number of Lexus’ and Toyotas and they are all solid.

If you want to check out vehicles in inventory, these 3 sites pretty much cover all of the used car inventory in the US as each pulls their vehicle inventory from different places, so it’s wise to search all 3…

http://www.autotrader.com: pulls inventory from dealers and those autotrader publications

http://www.cars.com: works with a lot of dealers and newspaper classifieds

http://www.autobuying101.com: pulls inventory from dealers and other online listing services.

Good luck…

Q: Who still thinks GM is operating in the SUV gas guzzling age and do not offer vehicles with great mpg?
How many of you Americans would like to see the big 3 survive with new management and continue creating American cars with American labor?

Quick Facts:
Toyota Camry Solara – 21/31 mpg
Toyota Avalon – 19/28 mpg
Chevrolet Malibu – 22/33 mpg

Toyota FJ Cruiser – 16/20 mpg
Toyota Highlander – 18/24 mpg
Chevrolet Traverse – 17/24 mpg

Toyota Sequoia – 14/17 mpg
Chevrolet Suburban – 15/20 mpg

Chevrolet Cobalt – 25/37
Toyota Corolla – 26/35 mpg
Honda Civic – 26/34 mpg

Toyota Tunda – 14/18 mpg
Chevrolet Silverado – 15/21 mpg
Would everyone please keep replies related to models currently in production and related to mpg.

Quality is another story. Which GM is turning around with the launch of vehicles such as the Malibu and Cadillac CTS.

A: I use to be a GM man but lately they arent impressing me at all other than the new corvettes and Camaro. From now on, its nothing but toyota for me

Q: What is the best SUV out right now?
No Fords.
Chevrolet is my dad’s favorite and i am trying to persuade him to buy an SUV.
No HHR’s!!!

what is the best SUV out right now? the main thing we need is alot of cargo room :)

i was also looking at these: Chevy Traverse, Chevy Equinox and Honda Pilot…. which is the best?

A: The traverse and equinox are highly rated in the media because the media is trying to get Americans to buy American. Go figure.

For the money, and the size of the vehicle you’re looking at.

Toyota 4Runner
Honda Pilot
Subaru Forrester
Subaru Outback

Q: Easy to get into Cars Assembled in America?
My dad has arthritis and wants a car he can get in and out of, but he he also wants a car assembled in America. He’s not opposed to foreign brands, he just wants it assembled here.

Currently he has a Honda Element, the seat is the right height and the doors are large and open very wide. He’s getting tired of it and wants something new. I’m thinking he probably wants to stay with something about mid-sized and SUV-ish or a crossover.

I was thinking:
Saturn Outlook – Lansing, MI
Chevrolet Traverse – Spring Hill, TN
Chevrolet TrailBlazer – Moraine, OH & Oklahoma City, OK
GMC Acadia – Lansing, MI
GMC Envoy – Moraine, OH & Oklahoma City, OK
Buick Enclave – Lansing, MI
Pontiac Vibe/Toyota Matix – Fremont, CA
Saturn Vue – Spring Hill, TN
Toyota Highlander – Princeton, IN
Ford Taurus X – Chicago, IL
Honda CR-V – East Liberty, OH (+ many other places)
Cadillac SRX – Lansing, MI
Mercury Mountaineer – Louisville, KY & St. Louis MO
Honda Pilot – Lincoln, AL
Subaru Tribeca – Lafayette, IN

A more complete list of vehicles assembled in the USA would be awesome, but I couldn’t find one. Short of that, other suggestion would be great.
Yeah I get that there is more than one way to define ‘made in America,’ but he wants a car assembled in America, he just does.

A: The reason I bought a 2008 Dodge Nitro was it is 85 percent American made, the highest I could find.

It is easy to get in and out of, another reason I liked it.

The GM Acadias have a chinese engine, I think :(

Q: Why do new trucks/SUVs look like sh*t?
I swear the only trucks in production right now that I find attractive at all are the Land Rovers. What is going on? All trucks and SUVs used to be so beautiful AND capable! Now they look like bubbles that can’t even roll to the end of a snowy driveway. And the sides are so high and hideous!

A: the real answer is that [in the past] these TRUCK BASED vehicles became popular for their abilities,
then the market demographic shifted from people who had to get somewhere period to people with large disposable incomes that never used the potential capabilities [so why make it actually capable?] then the “designers” got involved loading these incapable barges down with the sort of trash that is called in car entertainment, power or automatic everything, g.p.s.[for people who are always lost, on the way to the mall]
unfortunately there is very little left on the market that has any capabilities period at any price.
with the possible exceptions of the kia sportage [inexpensive and becomes capable with decent wheels/tire combinations] and the super duty fords when equipped with the power stroke diesel
and the blacked out grill [they gotta lose the[[ be bop-a- do waa]] chrome and have a gizmo delete option]
