Q: What is the better USED vehicle? Ford Escape or Chevrolet Equinox?
Ford Escape or Chevrolet Equinox
Or suggest other of similar type.
Ok well base your answers on reliability and knowledge of these used vehicles.
A: My friend’s Equinox is incredibly roomy inside. People in the back seat have so much room you would think its a full size SUV. The stock basic sound system is good although some of the plastics of the interior are a little cheap. Also his rotors became warped but otherwise the power steering is so nice that you could drive with just your pinky. Brakes are good apart form the warped rotors. It comes standard with a V6 so it has ample power too.
The ford Escape is virtually the same car as the Mazda Tribute and I remember the interior being a little crowded to be honest and with nothing too great sticking out.
Q: How can I play the AUX settings on my ‘06 Chevrolet Equinox?
My car has the Option for it its called XM/AUX and I once used the XM radio satellite but I cancelled my account. I’ve heard something that the AUX can work with iPods but where in the world is the AUX jack its like a mystery.
A: I just checked the owners manual for your vehicle and it says nothing about an Auxiliary Input Jack (which is what you are looking for). Section 3 pages 38-84 has any information you are looking for on your radio system. I hope that helps.

Q: Chevrolet Equinox owners: jump starting problem.?
With the way the Equinox has its battery tucked away in favor of a remote positive terminal, is it possible to jump-start someone else’s vehicle? I recently tried, and was unsuccessful, which I attribute to the fact that the jumper cable was only connected to my positive terminal. I could find no help in the manual (it only told how to recieve a jump-start, not give one).
If you have successfully used your Equinox to jump another car, please tell me how. Thank you.
A: With any car set up like that, you need to attach the black (ground) cable to a metal part of the vehicle, to provide a complete circuit for the jump start. GM has been making battery setups like that for years, I have a 1994 Pontiac with the same thing! You will also find that on other makes of vehicles!!
With the positive cable to the remote positive terminal, and the negative to a good ground, you should be able to jump start another vehicle!
Q: Carmax is offering a 2008 chevrolet equinox Ls with 27k miles for 19,000 total price. Is there any way I can..?
get a new SUV for that price? I feel like 20k is a lot for a used car. I went to a chevrolet dealership and showed them the carmax offer. They “tried” to work something out but I was told it’d be 32k after all was said and done. goodness! the base price was 26,000, it was the only chevrolet equinox they had available.any suggestions?
A: Check out Saturn, they have the same base vehicle available but it doesn’t cost as much.
Hope this helps. Christopher

Q: insurance on an 2006 chevrolet equinox?
My parents are buying me a used one for my birthday in a few months. I am suppose to buy the insurance for my vehicle though I was wondering about how much it would cost for a 16 year old? Also I have a daughter that would be riding with me most of the time, I dont know If that has to be added into the insurance cost of not? Im kind of clueless, thanks for your help!
A: The insurance on any SUV will be outrageous for a 16 year old. The fact that you will be driving with a child in the car might drive up the premiums even more, so I wouldn’t volunteer that information if I were you. But if they ask, you have to tell them.
Q: Just bought a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox?
Anyone have any reviews on here about them? I love it, so far. It looks like a Bmw, but thousands less. Just pretty high tech for me, I still dont know how to use everything in it. Even the remote starter I cant figure out.
A: nice vehicle, hope you have good luck with it.
Q: How much do 20″ rims cost?
I’m looking for a price range for used 20″ rims. Someone is trying to sell theirs to me and since I have little knowledge on rims, I need to know if the price they’re offering me is too high. If this helps, it’s for a Chevrolet Equinox.
A: It depends. A good set of 20s can run as high as $4,000 or more. BTW, enjoy paying for the tires.
Q: Good car for teenager?
I’m about to get my license and my parents will help out with buying the car. I think I want to keep it under 15k, I would like a car that looks good. I’m definitely thinking used but my dad wants it under 30,000 miles. Anybody know any good options? I’ve been looking and I like the Chevrolet Equinox, Pontiac G6, and Volkswagen Jetta- any opinions?
A: Ford Focus (any type), they are safe sporty and not badly priced. I have one, Im not a teen but I would buy it for my child when they reached the proper age. Good Gas milage and you can get them for WAY under 15K.. cool little cars.
Q: how to turn on 07 silverado (gmlan) type cd player in house?
i am having a problem. I bought a dvd player to put in my truck and took out the stock cd player. So instead of just letting it collect dust inside my house i decided to try to hook it up one day. I have hooked up other cd players to my cpu power supply so i know 12v is not the issue. I have the constant 12v hooked to the right plug in and the ground hooked up. i can put cd’s in and it will actually turn on briefly so it will load then it turns back off. I know the cd player turns on with the Gmlan signal wire. so my question is if there is anyway possible to reproduce the same turn on signal the truck uses, from inside my house? (and its not just putting a 12v wire to it)

A: Sorry, no. GMLAN is the term for the communications data system that your vehicle uses for the various components to “talk” to each other. The unit needs to get a command from the truck’s computer system telling it when to turn on and off. You wouldn’t even be able to make it work in a different GM vehicle, because these head units are coded to the original vehicle and will activate an anti-theft lock if they don’t recognize the VIN through the data bus system. I don’t know of any way to make one work outside of the original vehicle, if you’re not a GM dealer.
Q: Publicity stunt with the fuel cell car – perfomed by Eric Massa?
What are your thoughts?
“Mr. Massa had driven the Equinox from his hometown, Corning, down to Washington without using a drop of gasoline or producing any emissions — at least that was supposed to be the message. “
“I have asked to drive this vehicle to Washington to demonstrate that this technology is real, it’s here and we are going to work to make sure it’s ready for the American people within a decade,” he said in a news release. “
“In order to deliver and retrieve the Equinox Fuel Cell vehicles, Ms. Markey said, two Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid S.U.V.’s were used as tow vehicles: one to tow the first Equinox back up to Honeoye Falls, and another to tow the second Equinox, which originated in Washington, up to Harrisburg for the trip back down. So essentially, the entire 280-mile trip was also made by a Tahoe Hybrid, which gets about 20 miles a gallon on the highway. Towing another S.U.V. lowers that gas mileage.”

Exactly MC, so why are some Congress members pushing this technology hard and why did they also nixnay the very efficient EVO?
A: There have been lots of idea’s that have been produced within the last 60 years. However, somebody pays them off and the people never get to use them. One of the first working electric cars was in the early 1900.
Q: Starting the new car hunt: Which practical wagon/CUV would you choose?
My wife’s car, a 2004 Nissan Sentra 1.8 automatic, has started having a few quirks that make us uneasy. With 100,000 miles on the odometer and the car nearly paid-off, we’re thinking very seriously about starting the hunt for a new car now, before any big issues rear their ugly head. She has about 65 miles of commute everyday, and we work different shifts (she’s on second shift, I’m on first) in different towns, so she really needs something dependable. Plus I don’t want to spend weekends working on her car, as I increasingly find myself, instead of spending time with her.
We’ve been making a list of possible candidates that we want to whittle down over the next year or so. With that said, bear in mind we’ll probably be looking at lightly used or “program” cars that are a year or two old, and we won’t be doing any serious shopping until late 2010-early 2011. Here’s our list of cars to check out so far:
* Ford Escape (2.5 four-cylinder, front-wheel drive, automatic transmission)
* Chevy Equinox (2.4 four-cylinder, front-wheel drive, automatic transmission)
* Nissan Cube 1.8S (1.8 four-cylinder, front-wheel drive, CVT automatic transmission)
* Hyundai Elantra Touring (2.0 four-cylinder, front-wheel drive, automatic transmission)
* Scion xD (1.8 four-cylinder, front-wheel drive, automatic transmission)
* Suzuki SX4 Wagon (2.0 four-cylinder, front-wheel drive, CVT automatic transmission)
* Chevrolet HHR (2.2 four-cylinder, front-wheel drive, automatic transmission)
* Mazda 5 (2.3 four-cylinder, front-wheel drive, automatic transmission)
Which do you like, and why? Are the others you’d include on the list?
A: Personally I am ahuge fan of GM cars,ut in this case I am not so sure I would pick, styleistically, However if you are looking for a car that will run excess of 160,000 miles I would go witht he GM, It is not just that I am an american motorhead this is my real world experience. A friend has a mazda, and that car is quite efficient. The cube however I feel like is a waste of time,it’s ugly and small and from wht I have seen can’t quite fit as much in it as you would expect. The hyundais are notoriousl for have crappy timing chains that crap out ,this is a costly repair. I would personally Go with either the Scion or Equinox. That is my opinion. Enjoy!
