Q: In your opinion, which SUV is the best choice? Chevy Equinox, Saturn Vue, Buick Rendezvous, Or Kia Sorento?
I’m looking to buy an SUV, I’m looking at five different ones. Two of them are Chevy Equinox. I’m leaning towards the Buick, but want some opinions on which of these are the better choice. I’m thinking about taking the Kia out of my possibilities because of the reviews I’ve read about it. Allot of owners complain about electrical issues. And on top of that, I prefer an American made vehicle.

A: Chevy.
I just like Chevy. They last forever.

Buick is pretty good, but it’s a lower quality GM product than Chevy.

Kia…? Nope. No good reason. I just don’t like them.
Sure, they’re cheap, but then remember the old adage, “You get what you pay for.”

Q: What SUV should I buy? Chevy Equinox, Pontiac Torrent, Saturn Vue?
So I have three SUVs of interest.

2006 Pontiac Torrent (25 000 miles)
2008 Chevrolet Equinox (28 000 miles)
2007 Saturn Vue (20 000 miles, and a little cheaper then the other two)

Should I pick the cheaper one with less miles?
What are the differences in these cars, will they have different resale values?
Is there any known problems with any of these SUVs?

A: Not much difference other than cosmetics. The Saturn and Pontiac may loose value faster as GM is shutting down these divisions. I would pick the Chevy myself.

Q: Chevy Equinox?
I have only owned Chevy pickup trucks. My Z71 is finally paid off, and I wanna get a nice SUV. I have looked at the Equinox’s and love em! Ive never owned anything but a truck and dont know if Id like one or not. What is your opinion on them and goin from a big 4×4 pickup to a small SUV?

A: I just got a Chevy Equinox a few weeks ago. It only has a 6 cylinder, so it will get much better gas MPG than your pickups, but you can’t be towing massive things like your Z71

The interior is nice, the ride is smooth, and so are the shifts.

For an SUV, its a fun car to drive. But unlike other Chevy SUVs, the Equinox is not designed for offroad.

A: The Vue, Torrent and Equinox are ALL built on the GM “Theta” Platform, so under the skin they are the same vehicle. The Saturn was the first of this family with the others coming later on, but mechanically they are very similar.

Pontiac and Saturn Divisions of GM are both done, so the resale on these models is going to be lower due to a lack of dealer support and parts availability. Get the Chevy if you are concerned about getting repair parts or having a dealer close by. Mechanical parts will not be a problem for years because the vehicles are really built on the same chassis. Where the trouble comes in, is in body and trim parts; which are division specific and with PONTIAC and SATURN going away, these parts will become scarce rather quickly!

The 2007 VUE does have the distinct advantage of using a HONDA J35 A3 engine which is a VERY well engineered engine! It is possible that the Chevy or Pontiac could use a Chinese manufactured 3.4 V-6, which in my opinion is a huge liability! This engine may be great, I just have a real distrust of ANYTHING that is “made in China”!

i’m looking into getting an suv and i saw the chevy equinox. i noticed that it’s a little cheaper than some of the others and was wondering if it was a good vehicle.

A: Of all the equinox owners ive talked to they love the suv.We have sold a bunch of these.Most owners like the room.power and ride of the equinox.Hope this helps

Q: What is the average motor life for the 2005 chevy equinox?
I am considering purchasing a 2005 chevy equinox. I heard they are reliable suvs, my aunt also owns one. But, I would only be able to afford one with over 100,000 miles. How long have you heard or you think the motor will last? How many miles?

A: Out of the GM brand I think Chevy is one of the better build quality ones. But still buy Japanese.

Q: Would you recommend a Chevy Equinox (04-09 used) or Saturn Vue (04-09 used) for a 17 year old girl?
My daughter just got her license a couple of months ago and she turned 17 a few days ago and we’ve been talking about cars and maybe getting an SUV for and we’ve both decided we like the Saturn, or the Chevy SUV for her but we can’t decide which one would be better.. Or if an SUV is even good for her…

A: for a first car, i would say get a small sized car or sedan.
but i would pick the Saturn due to safety reasons and fuel economy

Q: If you have a chevy Equinox do you like it?
I wanted to get a good small size suv and i really like the Equinox what do yall think?

A: I have an 06 and my wife and I think it’s a great vehicle. We have had no problems with it. The ride is comfortable and smooth. I would recommend it.

Q: Anyone know the towing capability for a Chevy Equinox?
I’m looking at at some smaller SUVs but have been disappointed with the very small towing cap. The Hyundai Santa Fe has been the favorite so far–with towing package its at 5,000 lbs. Neither the boat I currently have or a boat I can imagine purchasing in the next 5-6 yrs will be that much. Even without the towing pkg, it can still tow 3500 lbs.

But the Hondas max out at around 2,000–which might be too light. Jeeps tow fine but I hate driving a Jeep. Anyone know about the Chevy Equinox? With or without the tow pkg–both would be helpful. Thx.

A: According to 2007 tow ratings from Trailer Life Magazine.

Q: Which car to purchase? 2008 Chevy Equinox Sport or the 2007 Impala SS? ?
My wife wants a decent vehicle with good power and space. She likes the Equinox and the Impala SS. The Equinox has a 6 speed auto and 260 HP with the practicality of a small SUV. The Impala SS is nice, roomy and fast but uses premium gas in a small block V-8. She doesn’t want a gas guzzler but wants sporty, yet practical vehicle. The dilemma continues but the question remains? Which one?

A: The Equinox is ok. It seems like it covers your wife’s basic requirements. You should probably let her pick, though. The most important thing is not which vehicle. The most important thing is which vehicle is SHE happy with. If she picks, she’ll be happy. You’ll be happy. Life is good.

Q: Is it silly to trade a 2007 Volvo S60 for a 2009 Chevy Equinox?
My husband and I are having a disagreement. I’m thinking it’s probably silly to trade the Volvo (car) for an Equinox (SUV) but he’s insisting it’ll be better for us since we’re having our first child in October. We’re 1.5 years into the payments on the S60 and would have to take another 6 year loan and start all over again on the Equinox. Our payments will NOT go down (but I won’t agree to it for sure if they were to go up). We currently have negative equity in the Vovlo (actually, about 5 or 6K worth – EEK!) and would have about the same when we get into the Equinox (b/c it’s priced well under blue book value right now).

Any thoughts?

A: Hello!! First of all, i see both sides of this. You, want to keep the volvo because of payments, and it’s still in good shape. But i am kind of on your husband’s side right now, because the volvo, isn’t ideal for babys. If you got the equinox it would be very easy to transport the baby around, and get in and out. My Aunt actually did that when she had a baby. She traded her honda accord for a Saturn outlook.

I guess what i think i am saying is, take the equinox because it will be easier for your baby. But i think its smart TO NOT take the car if the payments go up.

Q: Chevy Equinox or Trailblazer?
I was trying to decide between buying a chevy equinox or trailblazer in the years from 2005-2007 on both vehicles. I had a 2001 Mercury Mountaineer and like having an SUV. Im worried the equinox may be too car like? If I could get some opinions on which of those two cars I should go with that would be great.

Q: my mom has an 05 chevy equinox and were thinking of trading it in for a 2005 lexus rx330?
the equinox already has too many miles on it so we want to get another suv that doesnt waste a lot of gas. (maybe as much as the equinox) so do u think we should do it? or is there a better suv?

A: There is no real comparison between these two suvs.The 2005 lexus rx330 is what the equinox would like to be.This lexus has more power better safety and a five speed auto trans.The rx330 also has a towing rate of 3.500 pounds.If you look at the MPG numbers between the two there really close together.The real difference is the lexus quality,safety,power and a great resale value.Best of luck.

Q: Chevy Equinox or Ford Escape?
I am looking to buy a 2006 suv. I am between a ford escape and a chevy equinox. I would like awd but I can live without. I don’t want to spend more than 14,000. Just looking for some help and advice. I have researched them both and both have good and bad points. I own a toyota now and just don’t seem to trust them with safety. I want an suv for my dog and my child. Any help would be great.

A: Consumer Reports says the reliability of the Escape is “better than average” and the Equinox as “worse than average.”

If you choose a front wheel drive Escape, and pass on the AWD, you’ll be able to get a newer Escape with less miles on it.

Honestly, winter tires are a better investment than AWD. AWD adds weight, complexity, and increased maintenance.

If you go with the Escape, get the 3.0L V6, skip the 4cyl.

Q: having problems getting an egr pipe for my 2005 chevy equinox can anybody help?
cracked 2 since last yesr, found out that it should be a recall on this suv because they dont use the same company to make the part anymor so now the pipe dont reach the valve, now i have to buy a kit which includes a new valve fo 200 more , HELP!
